This is pretty cool and very appropriate for this place.

What is iBeacon?
iBeacon is based on Bluetooth Low Energy (part of the new Bluetooth 4.0 standard), and at it's heart is a way to advertise location specific data one-way, or provide basic indoor navigation via individual iBeacon nodes.

Some example projects:
  • Imagine you walk into a store and the Pi sends you a greeting or discount offer.
  • When you get within range of an access point the key is broadcast to you.
  • Trail markers in a park.
  • Great to send your girlfriend on a scavenger hunt. (Get's her out of your hair all day :) Set the devices up around town say locked in a car etc...) Have it send information to her on where to go next based on clues only she would know. Serious brownie points for the next time your in trouble.

Some articles to get you started with the outline:

Thanks for sharing this. This could solve a problem we are having at work for a Contest application we are creating. We have been debating how we are going to know if the user is physically at the contest

It will be a while. The application is a one and currently we are only working on the asp website version now. Hoping to move it to an app after the first release.
