I am an Ntelos customer (CDMA) in WV. I have 4 phones on my plan. I want to swap these phones out for the Droid Razr Maxx phone, but all the XT908 phones I am finding for cheap are Alltel branded phones. The phones through Ntelos cost 500$ each. Ouch.

My question is:

Can I pull a rom off a genuine Ntelos branded phone (I have access to one purchased from Ntelos) and put it on these Alltel phones, then call Ntelos and do the swap?

I saw where someone used a generic root to get a boot mamager loaded. I know the Alltel phones, and the genuine Ntelos branded phones are 4.0.4.

Can a backup and restore of a rom on the XT908 phone be done?

I guess that answers that.  I looked at your thread and didn't really know the answer and I'm sure that's why no one else answered.  Now we know, and knowing's half the battle. ;)

Yeah. Generally installing a backup from a different device is not recommended for some obvious security reasons, but isn't as much a concern if you are in possession of the devices in question
