SamuriHL's House of Razr

What is the House of Razr?

o) A script to help people move from one update to another with no data or app loss.
o) Designed as automation for those that know the manual processes

What the House of Razr is NOT

o) A replacement for knowledge on how to modify your phone. I.E. This is not a script for "n00bs" to bypass learning the process.
o) Will NOT apply the update in recovery for you...that is, and will always be, a manual process. Follow the menus!
o) Will NOT work if you skip steps that you think "aren't necessary".
o) Will NOT work if you don't READ AND LEARN *BEFORE* doing!

How does it work?

o) You launch the HouseOfRazr.bat
o) A menu of options is generated dynamically for you depending on what version you're using.
o) Once you make your selection on the initial menu, an additional menu of choices is presented.
o) The HoR script will then allow you to:
- Push the update zip to your sdcard-ext
- Reboot to AP Fastboot
- Flash a script in RSD to prepare your phone for the update you're installing
- Walk you through the steps to install the update in recovery
- Optionally install root
o) All of this is controlled from a dos batch file using command line RSD to flash the rsd scripts and adb to push the update

WARNINGS (You REALLY should read this!):

o) It works for some, but, if you use this, it is 100% AT YOUR OWN RISK. I can't take responsibility for what this does to your phone!!!

o) PLEASE BACKUP YOUR DATA BEFORE USING THIS PROCEDURE!

o) Safestrap users should shut down on the unsafe partition and remove safestrap before using this.

o) You *MUST* have an sdcard-ext installed or you can NOT flash updates!!!

o) NOTE: By downloading this you are acknowledging that you've read this ENTIRE post!

Installing the House Of Razr:

o) Install the Moto Device Manager (driver):

Please Login or Register to see this Hidden Content

o) Install the SamuriHL_HouseOfRazr_(7.x).exe
o) Install the SamuriHL_HouseOfRazr_COMPONENTS_(1.x).exe
o) Install the SamuriHL_HouseOfRazr_(xxx).exe for the updates you want support for

Usage:

o) Ensure you have a charged battery and/or a factory cable
o) Plug in your USB cable
o) Enable USB debugging
o) Set USB to media device (MTP) or Charge Only mode
o) Start, Programs, House Of Razr, House Of Razr link
o) Select the version you want to install and follow the menus
o) Those wanting to REINSTALL or FIX the current release should use the REINSTALL option

NOTES:
o) There's some confusion on when to use INSTALL vs REINSTALL. Install is install the version you're going to from any previous release. Reinstall is to reinstall the version you're on...e.g. to fix a brick situation in some cases. It is NOT necessary to use the REINSTALL option to install a new version.
o) PLEASE leave the update for the version you're installing on your sdcard-ext. It's required by the REINSTALL option in case you can't boot your phone.
o) When RSD is flashing for updates, an error will be thrown in the last step, RSD will quit, and your phone will remain in AP Fastboot. This is desired. Leave your phone in AP Fastboot and go to the next step in the script.

Uninstall:

o) Programs and Features, House Of Razr

How to ask for help:

Post the following information:
o) Have you read EVERYTHING in this post?
o) What version were you on when you started?
o) What version are you trying to install?
o) What option did you pick on the first menu?
o) What options did you go through on the second menu?
o) What error messages did you receive/happened?
o) Post the contents of the SamuriHL_HouseOfRazr\rsd\SWDL.txt file

How to add support for a new update (advanced user option):

o) Create a new ### folder where ### is the minor version of the update (e.g. 215)
o) Copy the Blur_Version*.zip to the ### folder
o) Add ### to the end of the Blur_Version*.zip....(e.g. Blur_Version.6.16.211.XT912.Verizon.en.US(215).zip)
o) Connect your phone to USB, enable USB debugging, and set to Charge Only or MTP mode

Ok, I see the RAZR users are eager. :) Posted for advanced users to play with. If you break your phone, you'll need to either manually fix it or use Matt's util. Hopefully there aren't any issues.

I've only just gotten into it. I'm gonna look more into it tomorrow since its getting late here on the east coast. I want a nice clear mind to look through your scripts instead of just shooting in the dark. I think Incan be more helpful that way.

I see a couple issues right now. Your updates are very different in some ways than our bionic ones. I can compensate easy enough but as you said, it's late. I'll work on fixes in the morning. Don't worry guys, I'll get it to work. And I'll take some of the lessons I'm learning back to the House of Bionic. Eventually we'll have a unified House of Moto script when I'm done. :)

I've posted a new 1.1. Can my testers give it another try? Thanks!!

(P.S. For those who don't know how this works, you ONLY need to get the 1.1 update and install it on top of your existing install. No need to get the components or 215 update again.)

I thought I did. :) I ONLY want testers using this right now. I haven't released this yet and the links should NOT be used unless you understand what TESTING means. ;) When I do my full OP thread spiel it'll have all the warnings.

Just wanted to hop in here for a sec. Please for the love of god people read the entire OP. You have been given warning enough that this is not ready for main stream and only advanced users should attempt it. I know new things are always tempting but please let them work out the bugs and be patient. Good luck to the testers. With that said, back to you SamuriHL. lol

Question for the RAZR people. The dd command to extract your recovery.img....is that the same as for us Bionic users? E.G.:

dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk1p16 of=/data/local/tmp/recovery.img bs=4096

Thanks!

Well, right now the HoR supports FXZ (what you guys apparently call Fastbooting) to 211 both keeping data and full data wipe, and supports installing/reinstalling the 215 update. So, if I had an ideal test plan, and you have everything backed up so you didn't care about your data, I'd ask for this:

Do the following and test it's working after each step:
o) FXZ 211 Keep Data
o) FXZ 211 Factory wipe
o) Install 215
o) Reinstall 215

Rooting is optional after each of those steps but should also be tested at some point. Thanks!!
