Can I replace the EB40 3200 mah battery in my Motorola Droid Razr Maxx XT912 with a 4000 mah battery?  Thanks.

It may be possible...... You would have to be 100% sure that the contacts are identical and there is enough space inside AND your charger is capable of properly charging a larger battery........ :)

Please remember, its not a sure thing that it can be done...... And it can be damaging to your phone..... However, if you do attempt it and it is successful please post here so it may help others who might want to upgrade as well.....:)

Also the one thing I can confirm is the EV40 from the HD to a x912 will not work, I tried...

I installed the 4000 mah battery in my Motorola Droid Razr Maxx XT912 this afternoon.  So far, everything is OK.

The new 4000mAh battery still seems to be working OK.  It's hard to say how long it last because this is now a spare phone that is not active on my Verizon account.  I turn it on every day and it connects to my router as a WIFI device.  So far, it's been 3 days and it's down to 30 percent.  Temperature is 77 degrees F.

Well, unfortunately, this 4000mAh Replacement battery does not seem to be holding a charge as long as it should.  I'm going to see if I can find a stock battery for my Droid Razr Maxx.

Is it actually getting a full charge?

Nothing has gotten into it (hair, debris, moisture)?.........

Battery terminals torqued properly?

I haven't opened it back up, but I'm pretty sure nothing like that has happened.  I ordered another battery to replace this one.  I ordered an OEM 3200mAh battery that should be exactly like the one that came in the phone when it was new.  I guess I'll toss the 4000mAh battery and be out $25.

Of course, it's possible the phone was damaged when the original battery over-heated and swelled up.  I'll find that out when I receive and install the OEM battery I just ordered.

I received the OEM 3200mAh battery this afternoon and installed it tonight.  So far, it appears to be working as normal.  I am going to return the 4000mAh battery for a refund.

Lesson learned:  Don't buy off-brand batteries.  Only buy OEM.

This new OEM battery is working great.  I put the Razr Maxx on my wife's line and got her a data plan and retired her flip phone.  She's happy.
