The Google Drive mobile app has been updated to a new version, and while this is (slightly) old news I felt that I should do a short writeup so everyone here could see the progress they have been making. This update is exciting for a couple reasons, and it shows that Google is at least somewhat dedicated to making Drive the product it could be.

As soon as you update your Drive and start up the app you will notice one big thing, the ability to create folders(!) has been added.

This alone in my opinion is enough to stop calling Drive a beta, as folder creation and organization is one of the most basic features of any type of file storage. Big G has also included a few basic folder sharing/manipulation features, accessible by long-pressing on any given folder.

Once inside the folder, you can also filter the contents by file type which is an outstanding feature that Dropbox does not have. I can not attest to anyone's computing habits, but I use this sorting type frequently when navigating through my PC in search of files.

There are also quite a few additions as far as presentation/document editing goes including basic table support; the ability to create, reply, and resolve comments in the docs editor; being able to change fonts; pinch to zoom; printing via Google Cloud Print; the ability to resume interrupted uploads; and a "richer Google Presentations viewing experience", whatever that means. You can also set Drive to auto-sync your pinned files while on a network for viewing offline.

While this is certainly a giant leap forward in Drive useability, it is still lacking a few key features: especially concerning the PC program (which was not updated). All the lacking features are still absent, such as the inability to double clicking the app tray icon to bring up the folder.

However -

If you were one of those that were disappointed with the release features of the product, it may be time to take it for another test... Drive.
