I'm not tech savvy at all but I'm here for help.

A long time ago I rooted my phone but I'm pretty sure I lost root along the way bc of OTA updates.  I know that when I tried tethering, the superuser prompt would come up but it never worked after one of the updates.

Fast forward to today, I hit install on the OTA update, and now my phone is stuck at the red M logo and won't boot.  What should I do?

Any help is GREATLY appreciated.

Read the OP.  It tells you what to do.

First of all, Thanks for putting this together.

I am trying to get into the recovery menu now after successfully flashing the script with RSD.  Stuck at the android laying down with red triangle.  I tried pressing volume + and - as well as the volume up and tap power combinations.  Neither seem to be working for me.

EDIT:  (I am dumb) I figured out that I wasn't tapping volume + and - together quickly enough.  Flashing the OTA now.

SamuraiHL, thank you so much for this.  These instructions are really easy to follow and I seem to have achieved success!! Woohoo!! I've been following the forums in the past few days, but completely in over my head with jargon.  I consider myself fairly computer literate, but this stuff is all new to me.  So thank you for this.

I too got stuck on the red M for a while, I don't know why that is.

Now here's hoping KitKat speeds up my lowly phone!

oh really? i was totally expecting to get the transparent status bar on my homescreen, expecially as it was stated on lots of websites:

"[...]along with transparent status and nav bars, and white status bar icons[...]"

i did get the icons, but no tranparency...

If you have java 1. 7 or higher properly installed it should run on double click......

On a Mac it will be something like this...you probably need to run from the command line because we have 2 versions of java, Apples and Oracles...and Apple is set to win

Run this from within the folder where you have Sams script generator.

you need the single quotes due to the space in the directory name:

'/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/JavaAppletPlugin.plugin/Contents/Home/bin/java' -jar FXZ-ScriptGenerator

Show a directory listing for your FXZ directory.

It doesn't like the directory names you have.  You've got 2 directories with the same name as a file contained in the lowest one.  Rename the directory to something like "FXZ_9.30.1".
