Haha, I wasn't trying to be a prick.  I just like to debate and I can do it until I'm blue in the face.

For those of us that said it's now or never, it's because what happened with this latest KitKat OTA is a rare occurrence. Someone at Moto is probably in the hotseat for releasing this KK update with the old bootloader exploit. Also, Towelroot was not for a specific phone and we got lucky that it worked. I can guarantee you with the next upcoming OTA coming soon for the XT926 that Towelroot will not work and I'm pretty sure they'll patch the bootloader unlock exploit again so that you can't unlock it.

So, now is the time to do it, as has been said over and over again. And, this time I'll say - you might get lucky and another root exploit is found and if there are enough issues with this next OTA, Moto might release another OTA after that and then you might get lucky again.

But, now is the time to do unlock if you haven't. You're basically doing a crap-shoot if you don't.

I'll check back in 30 days from now to see how the hunt for root's going.   :)

:) :) :)  The hunt went very well, actually (as you know)! Just used Towelroot to root my xt926 (183). Also used Motopocalypse to unlock my bootloader. Both worked like a charm.

Quick question: Once you use Motopocalypse to unlock your bootloader, is it permanent or would applying a new OTA re-lock the bootloader?

Thanks to anyone who might be coming back here to check on xt926 root status.

Once you unlock, you'll stay unlocked.

For the record, it's been my mission since the unlock has been known (6/15) to unlock as many of you guys and gals as possible.  Root then becomes a moot point after that.  I really, seriously, don't want any of you "waiting around hoping for" another root exploit.  Ever.  Towelroot was beyond lucky.  I'm not sure I'd want to keep testing my luck in your situation.  :D
