I totally agree with having all info of the scammer(s) MO, fake names and emails posted for others to be able to avoid the scam. I'm not so sure that HOW the scammer was caught by whatever info or means should have been though. It could arm them with ways to make it harder for someone to catch them next time... Just my 2 cents... but anyway, nice to see we are all being watched out for on this forum! :)

Basically, thanks to Chuckleb0ne his bank Chase in conjunction with Paypal have figured out this guys actual identity and they are handling him.

Meh no big deal. Some ppl are just $#!+ starter's. I think its due to the fact that they want to bring everyone down around them to there level. I'm glad to see the majority of members are mature enough to not feed into the mess and focus on the message.

I disagree we are being watched over........ If that were the case we wouldn't have issues with some Devs being arrogant pricks ..... and thinking they are omnipotent, when in reality they are in fact human like us and were us.... noobs once.... also......Kudos to the Mods for alerting us to the scammers .....at least I am confident thinking some actually Give a Hoot.....

May i add something?
While vigilante actions are generall good to quickly prevent more damage, they're still limited.

I would forward all complaints and accumulatd information to the responsible section at the

and your local authorities as well.
These folks have proved to have much more power when going after scammers in real life and tracking them down.

That would surely raise your chances of getting back the money and prevent further scumbaggery on the scammer's side.

BTW: about StiK's postings
Not for a second I believe that he wants to protect the scammer. What he fears of, naturally I would say, is this:

A scammer could easily have stolen someone's identity in order to hide his own, they love doing such stuff. In that case, all published info would hurt someone who is innocent. And that person could easily object to have his/her data be posted publicly and your justification for doing so wouldn't fly, especially not if some member decide to "take matters into their own hands".. you know what I mean; so ultimately, it's also for your protection. Don't shoot the messenger.

In addition, there is one more problem, also well known from other hugest communities I'm a member of (with an equally huge marketplace):
Pretty often, people open up complaint threads and falsely point fingers at another member. Luckily on that particular forum, there is a whole mod team, only busy with checking claims and counterclaims, preventing any sort of witch hunts among the members - something no honest user would like to be a part of, if he was falsely accused. In that case, publishing info is highly counterproductive.

These are just general concerns and while the 2nd point doesn't seem to be applicable, the 1st one might still be. That's why I would generally forward all gathered info to the authorities, not the public.

Just my 0.01$.

All I have to say is:

Kudos to the staff here for not only pursuing this all the way through now but also for alerting other sites! Bravo, especially, for tucstwo - you, sir, rock!

I know that dtanner name from AF - I'm positive I ran into him a few times. I never pay attention to the market threads though b/c I'm never 'in the market' yanno?

Great catch and follow-up!
