Factory Programming Cable

1. Cut the MICRO end off of my charger cable that came with the phone.
2. Took my knife to end I had just cut off. Removed the rubber housing, removed the glue seal around all the wires, and pulled back the metal casing away from the charging port.
3. I noticed that there is an empty pin (pin no. 4) that wasn't wired. Following the tutorial, I ran a jump between the wire for pin 1 and connected the jump to pin four.
4. Soldered each wire to its respective wire on the end I had clipped.
5. Plugged it in, and it was good to go!
So my question now is this: the phone booted all the way, but it will not charge with this factory cable. I unplugged the factory and plugged in a normal one and obviously the phone shut off, and now there is just a white LED. Not enough charge to complete a boot sequence? Should I leave it plugged in for awhile? or is something really really wrong with my phone?

if it does not charge. If it has a ? mark on the battery then you fried your battery.

So I made the factory cable and flashed it, and then just left it on the charger, and eventually it took a charge. She's all booted back up now. I'm glad cause my phone is wayy too young for an insurance replacement.

My phone did the same thing with the white LED. However, I didn't do anything to my phone exept plug it in using another charger at a friends house. I plugged it in and it instantly shut off. It never took a charge after that. I took it home and plugged it in with the factory charger it came with and left it there........for 3 days! I got nothing. It was completely dead and nothing I did would turn it on. I took it to the Verizon Store and they said that it was a gonner. They didn't have any in the store to replace it that day and to call Customer Service and have a new on shipped. Since my phone is a necessity for my job, I can't go without and I already lost 3 days, so not wanting to wait for a new phone, I thought I would try one more thing. I took the back panel off and pulled the battery. Well, you actually don't even have to pull the battery. Just unscrew one of the 2 screws holding it in and wiggle the pull tab and TADA, booted right up. Now I don't know if this voids the warranty, but I was desperate. Also, when I went into the Verizon store, they did pull off the back panel to check for damage. They did not pull the battery out, but was approved for a new phone under warranty. I'm sure there was nothing really wrong with my old one, but I figure they approved a new phone under warranty, why not. Not taking any chances, I sent for a new phone with no down time till my new one came in the mail.
That sounds familiar, although I didn't have my Torx to test that theory .
