Hello guys,

Terribly sorry if this particular question has been asked before but I really need your help here.

Have been googling and searching forums for a long time now - but I simply can't find the exact explanations how to upgrade my 2.3.6 Android version of Razr MAXX to ICS.

This one is a GSM UK version from Orange and it looks like they didn't release the OTA update yet.

I think I will be perfectly ok with official release, no customs rom. (Thou Cyanogen mod would be fantastic :) )

I got the actual ROM online and tried to recover from it - it didn't work and said that this update is not signed.

As far as I understand I should get hold of Droid Razr Utility for GSM unit which I honestly can't find anywhere and then use fastboot to upgrade or something.

Feel really left-behind with this european version of Razr, as there are plenty of CDMA manuals but no good GSM ones available for it.

Please help lads.

Thank you in advance.

Try this post at XDA. Has links to pretty much all the files. We don't have a current utility for GSM models currently.

If you PM me here, I'll get it eventually, but I'm constantly on the move. If you need to reach me more quickly, email me at stealthmouse@gmail.com and add DroidRZR PERSONAL MESSAGE to subject line. Thanks!

Thanks for that. Tried it just now - bricked the device. Had to unbrick with fastboot.

It looks like I am not getting "an android lying on his back" picture at recovery for some reason... Just a standard default picture. So it gives me an error when I am trying to flash OTA ICS.
Any ideas on the subject?

Thank you!

Hi again,

I managed to sort it out.

What I did:
- got a latest OTA release (British in my case) -

- from here
- got Motorola Drivers
- got RDSLite
- Used RDSLite while choosing xml file from the OTA zip archive and put the phone into AP Fastboot mode

Now I am on official Android 4.0.4 and I am quite happy about it.

Good luck to anyone from Europe.

Thanks for your support stealthmouse

No problem. Not sure why you didn't get the Android on his back, other than you have to be in stock recovery then click one more time into the unknown of OTA. And you have to use the blur zip file. You can also use Fla$#!7 or the terminal commands shown in that post. All irrelevant now, which is always a good thing! :) Sorry, was actually helping one of your compatriots this afternoon, so wasn't available. You obviously didn't need much help....

EDIT: That's funny, the profanity meter got my flas-hit and modified it. Robots taking over the world.
