I have downloaded it twice now and get the same error both times. I tried right clicking on it as running it as admin but that option does not exist in the menu on the rds 5.7 file, nor does running it in XP compatibility mode, bot options grayed out. Any other way of doing the upgrade without using the RDS 5.7 file? The House of Bionic file extracts it ok in the terminal window then after I tell it to not disable web top it comes to the error again that it cannot find the file, so I am done with trying that method. I followed all the steps, including these others he posted and still no go with the HOB.

ok do this take HoB an go into the rds folder that has the rsd application an files run the application there we will skip rsd installation an use the HoB one once u get it open browse am flash the xml file

Since HOB has to be installed through the exe it is in C:\Cell\SamuriHL_HouseOfBionic and RSDLite5.7.msi is in that folder as well (I extracted it there). There are no RSD files, just the RSDLite5.7.msi file that won't run. So I run the HouseofBionic.bat, it extracts the files from the VRZ file that I put into the created folder of 246_FXZ and this is what I get in the window:

Mostly mac's around here, I only keep the Winblows PC to play some games on like guild wars 2, torchlight 2 and sevencore. I am sure there is no mac version of the RSD is there?

Installing the House Of Bionic:

o) Install the Moto Device Manager (driver):

Please Login or Register to see this Hidden Content

o) Install the SamuriHL_HouseOfBionic_(9.x).exe
o) Install the FXZ by following the directions below for "Installing FXZ"
o) Install the SamuriHL_HouseOfBionic_RSD_(x.xx).exe

NOTE: These are not "optional". If you don't install them and "it doesn't work" too goddamn bad.

Those are the instructions for installing the HoB. You claim to have followed them. However, you don't have an RSD folder (you have an rsd_scripts folder which is not the same thing)...I don't know what to tell you. It definitely states that it won't work if you don't follow the directions for installing.

And the contents of the rsd folder?

I think I may have figured out what was wrong, it installed to rsd/rsd which I did not expect it to create a folder on it's own since it was named in the install path, anyway, I have moved them to the first rsd folder and now when I start up the hob.dat file I get the following options:

Flash Mode RSD

Choose version:

1) FXZ 246 options
U) Utility options
F) Toggle flash mode
E) Exit

So as sargent was saying I need to toggle flash mode correctly?

You can use RSD mode now. Select FXZ Options and either keep data or full factory reset. Keep Data will keep your apps. Factory reset will wipe your data partition.

Your machine has problems that go well beyond the HoB. You can put the phone in AP Fastboot mode manually and try it again or you can simply run sdl.exe from the rsd folder and open the xml file in the 246_FXZ folder and flash it outside the HoB as Sarge suggested.

It's a brand fresh install of windows 7 with all current updates and sp1. I just bought it through our Non Profit off Tech Soup. I will give both of those a try. Thx

Well the fastboot mode didn't work either, it gave this error:

Also I looked for an xml file in the 246_FXZ folder but there is none, only this file that has xml in the name:

Q: Why doesn't ADB like my phone? (Daemon started, doing nothing else, "Looking for your phone...if this hangs, it's not finding your phone")
A: Check the following...ESPECIALLY after you just installed an update as things CAN get reset:

-Are you on USB 3.0?
-Do you have the latest Moto driver installed?
-Did you boot into AP Fastboot and allow Windows to install the ADB driver?
-Is the phone set to charge only or MTP mode?
-Is USB Debugging enabled?
-With the phone plugged in, try unchecking USB Debugging mode, wait a few seconds, then re-enable USB Debugging
-Are you using the original cable that came with your phone?
-Have you rebooted your phone and/or PC lately?
-Try unplugging the phone from USB for a few seconds and plugging it back in
-Try a different

- If you are using a factory cable (see above) to try to root, you may run into this problem. Factory cables are generally for dealing with AP Fastboot mode and should not replace a "normal OEM cable" when doing things like transferring updates/rooting/etc. They can and should be used if you have one to flash in AP Fastboot, however. That's what makes the adapters so awesome.

That error suggests the adb daemon isn't even starting. I go back to what I said about the machine being screwed up and isn't HoB related at all. Nothing we can do to fix that kind of problem.
