hey guys, last night i accidentally dropped my phone in the toilet, i took it out pretty much inmediatly and it was working fine, shook it to get the water out and toweled it a bit, after a lil while, it started acting up, it said i had the hdmi connection on when it didn't and also lost the network a couple of times, after that it rebooted itself about 3 times, but then it was working fine except for the hdmi connection, a couple of hours go by and the screen just goes dark and the email notification light starts flashing, i read somewhere that i should hold the power up and the volume down button together to shut it down, i did and it did, but it hasn't turned back on since

i put it in a bowl with some rice in it, been like that for a few hours but nothing's happenning, i also tried plugging it in to see if something happened and nothing, what can i do to get my phone back to life? please help!

Uhhh that's gross dude. Rule number one, never handle your phone while taking a dump or urinating.

You need to leave it in the rice overnight at least. Otherwise keep it in a warm and dry place at the same time. It's either going to clear up after a while or not.

i know, it's an old habit of mine taking my phone everywhere with me, i'll just leave it in the rice and check on it everyonce in a while, i really don't see a point in taking it to a repair shop since these phones simply don't have a lid, so i don't know if a repair guy could actually do something with it, or am i wrong?

Just leave it alone. Don't plug it in until a full day or two in the rice.
Plugging in a wet phone can fry the circuits if they are wet.

I would have just kept on flushing...

Seriously, First thing to do is pull the battery (if possible) to de-energize everything before water seeps into the circuits and throw it in rice.
On the sealed phones, all you can do is soft power off, throw it in rice, and pray.

Mineral deposits can form on the boards as the water dries giving you issues even after drying. The easiest solution if you have the equipment available is a dip in an ultrasonic tank filled with 95%+ isopropyl alcohol. Assuming like most people you don't have a tank, just dipping it in 95%+ isopropyl usually does the trick. When doing it is extremely important that you are sure the microphones and speakers are sealed (usually with a tape that won't be taken off by the alcohol) because they will be fried if they weren't already from water damage. If you are unsure of how to do this safely, don't do it, contact a shop, or watch dozens of disassembly videos and get yourself the proper tools.

This +1000! Every time you power it on you greatly increase the chance of screwing up your phone even more!

so i went to my carrier today, the repair guy said, that first thing he'd have to get the humidity out of the phone's card, but that as soon as these phones get wet, the screen dies, and that a new one is about US$300 plus taxes and that's what i paid for it the first place, so i'm just calling it quits, getting a new one probably an SII, and anyway thanks for all the help guys
