It should. Just don't do anything else with it until after the FXZ comes out. At that point, it should be able to flash the gpt partition (which is a protected partition).

Of course, it depends on which Razr HD you have. Do you have the XT925 or XT926? This is for the XT926 version. Based on where you are located at, did you happen to flash the XT926 to a XT295? If so, that would explain your issue which means this FXZ won't help you.

Gpt errors aren't always cured by getting a new build. But we will see in your case. If it's currently bricked it can't hurt to try it.

xt926 verizon that's what written on a backdoor, locked and no root...have this a problem when doing factory reset on 4.4.2 then bootloop forever without having a recovery (stock or custom)..

no problem sir,.it would be a nice to have a normal razr hd locked and no root rather than a bricked one.

10 or 15 minutes and I'll have the new thread for the FXZ up for you.

EDIT: I lied.  My upload speed is sucking.  Could be 45 minutes or so.

Wh-at?? It installed on someone's phone with TWRP on it?

That's insane! Never thought that was even remotely possible.

It's not wise to ever do that.  While it "may" work.....it could have issues.

I wouldn't ever try it unless a LOT of people confirmed it worked.

As I said, it's not a good idea.  TWRP was not designed to install OTA's.  It MAY work and it might even have no issues...but, I'd not bet on it.  Won't matter soon.  FXZ is uploading for both HD and M and I've created the threads for them already.  As soon as my uploads finish the FXZ posts will get updated with the links.

hmmm this might prove to be interesting. Or I just shot myself in the foot.

Ran the update with out going back to stock.  TWRP completed the update sucessfully. now it is upgrading android.

Sucessful boot. Patch seems to have completed still have root.  Screen shot to follow.attachicon.gif

I had to reinstall xposed framework.  It left recovery alone still have TWRP installed after update,

Hmmm Go back and look at the edited post.  May not happen for everyone but it did here.

I had made full backups before I tried this.  Would not have given it a shot with out them.

System patches seems to be complete.

It has happened once.  With updates there is no way to be sure.  Each phone setup could be different.  I tried it because I had full fresh backups and felt like living dangeriously.  There have also been people that was stock and had updates brick their phone.  Once is by no means conformation.

The only proven method is in the op.

Just to be on the safe side, Though there didn't seem to be any bad effects from the way I took a chance and risked my phone to install the OTA, I flashed the FXZ and did it the update the right way.  I am halfway looking for an excuse to squeeze a new phone out of the budget so I wouldn't recomend any one taking chances with their primary phone. Sam as usual your tools work with out a hitch and are a pleasure to use.  Thank you for your hard work.

FWIW, sh on 182.46.15.XT926.Verizon.en.US is vulnerable to CVE-2014-7186.  Not sure if it can be exploited to root the device.

Sucks. CM11 (at least the version I'm on which is nightly 11-20141105-NIGHTLY-moto_msm8960) is vulnerable too. Hopefully that will get fixed soon.
