Greetings. I am new to smart phones and my first one is my RAZR HD. I have some basic problems and would like to eventually learn advanced stuff. First issue... how do you cut/paste files? I got how to select, can't seem to paste! Driving me nuts!! Second, is there a way to set a song as my ringtone or do I need to have a dedicated ringer? Lastly... where should I start reading to get an understanding about roms an other mods?

Thanks!

Congrats on choosing a great first smart phone. Now to answer for first question...after you have selected your text you will need to copy it to the clipboard. This can be accomplished by touching the little icon that looks like two pieces of paper sacked on top of each other. Once your text is copied it's as simple as long holding your finger in the text editor till the paste option appears above your finger. To set a song for a ringtone just hold your finger on the song till a menu appears....set as ringtone will be one of the options. If your really are wanting to understand roms and rooting better I would recommend watching some tutorials on YouTube to start. Welcome to the community!

Thanks!

Now, I got text to copy and paste... how do I get it to copy and paste files?

Song selection is not giving me the option. If I do it in file manager it wants to do something with the file. I tried in music player and it gave me shopping and playing options. Save me from the horrid stock ring tones!!! Lol

As far as file managment download ES File Explorer from the Play Store (it's free!), just hold your finger on the file and all the options will pop up. After ES is installed you will be able to change your ringtone in system setting via ES to any music file on your SD card!

ES for the win!

To get it to assign the music to a ringtone I went to settings and when I pressed to select a ringtone it gave me the option to use ES instead of system manager... navigated to the folder and picked my song!

I also cut and pasted the files I wanted moved!

Thanks man!!

Ringdroid in the play store is another good option for creating ringtones. You can open any mp3 file and trim it to a specific section if you like and set it as a tone. You can also use it to record your own custom ringtones.
