Let me start off by saying that I am not a complete tech idiot, but I know I'm not the brightest coin on the table either. From reading various post on this and other forums I knew that flash player would not be there after the ics update. So I had what i thought was a smart idea and i backed it up in astro. Everything went great with the update and I went into astro and selected reinstall from backup. What I got was a message warning me that this was a system file and asking did I really want to overwrite the system file with the backup app. Seriously! A system file??? Well I've looked everywhere I can think of to look and all I can find is the flash player uninstaller which is in fact in the system file. What am i missing here?

if youre looking for the app, you will need root and to go to the system file and go to apps. that will show all of your system apps. after you delete everything or add something, reboot.
a what? an android? whats that?

Don't exactly need the file, just want to know what Astro sees that is causing it to tell me it's a systems file. And no root is needed if you have a good file explorer like Astro or es, they will allow you to see all the system files.

I have no clue what's tell it to be a system app. Are you rooted? If you have titanium backup or ROM toolbox you could install it, convert it to user app, and the reinstall it?

I am assuming that flash player was included in the ROM as a system app. Therefore when you back it up it will be backed up as a system app. Root would be needed to push it to system or to data/app and correct the permissions.

I an NOT rooted, bone stock, running 246 ota. I have flash player ready to install from Astro backups. I just want to know what is in the 246 ota that Astro is seeing and interpreting as flash player system file.

I may have just discovered what part of the problem is (maybe what all of the problem is). Seems like I too have broken camera and music player just like those idiots that pulled the battery during the ota. I however never pulled the battery. Phone woke me up the other day at 3:30am to let me know install was ready for download and I clicked ok and went back to sleep. When I took phone off charger at 5:30 everything was set up and ready to go, install was complete. Doing FDR now, will see how it goes.
