and did anyone manage to find out if, for some strange reason, we wanted to go back to 4.4.2 if we could do this without causing the proverbial brick?

I just PM'd you about that very thing.  NO, you can NOT go back to 4.4.2.  It will brick.  :(  Stupid Moto.

Read and replied, thanks. Also since we lose root, i'm guessing we just reflash TWRP and all will be right again, correct?

I would of thought since a dev had unlocked bootloader they would let you go back and forth, hence the developer edition...lol

That's why it pisses me off so much.  That's exactly why it pisses me off.  It's such BS.

Hmmmm, wondering if that old Bionic trick of flashing everything but GPT and Motoboot partitions would work to allow a test drive but still downgrade? Probably not such a good idea huh?

I (probably) wasn't going to actually try it, just sort of thinking out loud via the keyboard. But it does make me wonder why that worked on the Bionic and not on an X, I'm guessing there are different file structures for the OS between the two.

Because there's partition changes on the X.  It's a bad idea.  The security is totally different, too.

I'm going to leave this here for anyone that wants it.  They pulled the radio from the MAXX 4.4.4 update and it's newer than the build you guys just got.  So uh, yea, that's odd.  Apparently it works pretty well.

Is it better though? Just cause it is newer don't mean better...
