I have been looking since updating to 4.4.2 on my Droid XT926 for why the battery life has been so bad as mentioned

I was noticing that the display was burning more battery then anything, and found something I have never seen in past

updates- being that in settings I found something called DAYDREAM that was turned on automatically , turned this off and

battery life has increased back to what it was before on 4.1.2.

I could not hardly get a day out of my battery with this on I have no idea hwat it is but it's a battery hog

I have looked at all the phones out for a replace and there are none that have the HDMI port, that really sucks I love to watch the movied I record on the big flat screen and showing pictures, actuall most don't even have an expandable port for added memory.

anyone know of any new cool phones coming out in near future? seems Samsung S5 is about it right now and I'm kinda  a MOTO fan.

try it see what ya think -turning off Daydream that is.

snow

guy at Verizon says HDMI was being abused to much watching TV on the phones so they got rid of it. guys with the old unlimited plan like me.

SamuriHL thanks again so much for your help everything is good now!!

I don't use the HDMI at all, especially now that I have a Chromecast. For $35, you can have the ability to stream Netflix, Google Play Movies, YouTube and even cast your entire phone to your TV now (with the XT926, you have to find a hack that allow the casting as it's not supported right now). And, it's so much better than using the HDMI port on my phone. I don't have to have my phone hooked up next to the TV in a docking station. I can keep the phone in my hands. Also, it performs so much better than it did via the HDMI and when streaming Netflix, Google Movies, etc, the picture is so much better that way.

I actually got my Chromecast for free using mPoint apps (Office Jerk, Office Zombie, Crackle) and saved up enough points to get it. But, I have two HD TVs so I'm seriously thinking of purchasing a second one as $35 is pretty worth it.

I also have two Rokus, but they don't get much use now, except for Amazon Instant Video and some other TV apps (such as A&E, LIfetime, etc). Hopefully, those will come to Chromecast soon.

I think since Chromecast has come out, this is a reason HDMI ports aren't being put on phones anymore. It's just not necessary anymore.

Plus, with Chromecast, it also works with other phones, such as iPhones. My daughters have been able to use Chromecast with their phones so it's a pretty nice device.

I use HDMI all the time. I got a 25 foot cable so I can still hold the phone from my couch. ;)

Re: Daydream. Even though it is ON if you don't select any apps it never really runs.

I did turn it off anyway, just to try. Not noticing a difference yet.

4 1/2 hours later down to 55% with not much usage.

This can happen a lot as the battery readings have to re-calibrate themselves, which takes a couple of charges and days.

No, mine is still total crap. If I barely touch it I might get half a day out of it.

The HDMI connection is draining it even more.. HDMI sends a low voltage signal to allow the data path to reach to your TV. That small voltage may not be allot but ones that use it allot end up with this issue

Then the only thing I could possibly suggest is a battery conditioner. Been doing this for a while with my devices. Drain your battery with the OS. Once the OS shuts down because it says there is no juice left. Boot into recovery mode and let it drain what's left. You may wanna boot into recovery a few more times to make sure that the battery is fully drained. Then charge the device without it being powered up overnight with OEM cable and charger preferred. Come morning it should be nice and ready to boot up.

If I was the *only* one going through this, or one of just a few people, I might do all that. But this is VERY common and affecting a lot of people and Motorola has privately said they are aware.

I support 20 phones at my job. 6 in the RAZR family.

1 RAZR HD (mine), and 3 RAZR M's have had SEVERE battery issues to the point that 2 people have replaced the phones.

(One to a SG5 the other to iPhone... way to go Moto... just lost 2 customers...)

Not to even mention the shrikage in WiFi range.

Only 2 phones have had -0- issues: a RAZR M and a RAZR MAXX HD.

No rhyme or reason. Some are hardcore users, others are not.

I started on Moto with the D1. Then went to HTC for 2. Came back to Moto. Was waiting for the Moto X2 but if this isn't fixed, I might go G3.

I deleted the uppgrade Google Play Services (4.4.52), and my battery capacity is back to normal with 4.4.2.
