Just wondering what everyone thinks of Microsoft's across the board redesign.

I for one love 8 and am considering getting a surface depending on how the app availability turns out.

When the Surface Pro is released I will be ordering it. It is Microsoft's first competitive tablet in this new day and age. I love how it looks, the keyboard being dual function, awesome. It is a well built product from what the RT presents, and will run full x86? Meaning I can basically use this as a replacement to my computer? HECK YES! And not to mention. It's much easier to carry a 2lb tablet that is half an inch thick (without the keyboard) as opposed to a 5lb laptop.

Maybe I am just high on the awesomeness. I do realize that the new ultrabooks that bend 360 degrees around may be much better but for now, I think it is awesome.

OK, since I won't be the first one in the pool I'll say that I am really impressed with Windows 8 too. I've been running the RTM for a while (MSDN) on my HP DM1 Netbook and it's great. It's a very modern, mature OS that takes advantage of all the hardware improvements over the last few years, resulting in better performance and battery life.

The new interface is awkward at first, but I now find myself preferring it to Win7. There are still a few things that need to be fixed, especially in the Store/Apps department, but I think they are on the right path.

Imagine going on travel and instead of bringing the work PC AND your Tablet, you just bring a Tablet. YES! One less plastic tray at security! :)

I agree with you, and I love windows 8, but I had to switch back to windows 7 because my drivers weren't working right. I was kind of dissapointed, but I hope to switch back to 8 very soon. I can't wait for verizon to get a windows 8 phone so I can go play with it. Ive always been kind of jealous with how smooth it is. Maybe I'll pick one up...
If I helped you at all, don't be afraid to hit that like button! :D

Upgraded home built asus/amd desk top from win7 to 8. Gave it a couple weeks and dont like it tons of driver issues dont want to sleep and when it does only wakes with a hard boot. Lack of soft ware supporting 8 big problem. Probably awesome on a touch screen tablet but a flop on a desktop. Also upgraded 7 year old. Compaq from xp to 8 and had display driver issues but no sleep issues
