ok i got it to decompile correctly and made the change to xml but lost my status bar and cant change backgrounds any ideas?

Once you made the new apk did you move the XML file you changed to the original apk and pushed that?

i made the edit to the values/drawables.xml and i added the notification_tracking_bg.png to the res/drawable-hdpi directory. Then i compiled the SystemUI.apk ... next i extracted the resource.arsc file and re added it using store option...copied it to sd card and moved it to system/app folder with root explorer...rebooted and wiped cache and no status bar.....any thoughts

Hmm... I'm not sure if the store may have had something to do with it. Once you build your apk, right click and open archive with 7zip. Then right click and open archive on you original apk. Drag and drop resources and copy the png to the appropriate locations. Exit 7zip and it will ask you about compression (I think that's what it asks) click OK. Then you should be good to push it to your phone

heres a stupid ? should i click on the new systemui.apk to have it install? bkz i also see a systemui.odex file

I'm not sure I understand what you mean. You should NOT install the apk file that you made. I have read a lot of posts that say you should not do that and I never have. You are suppose to move the files you change to the old apk which will overwrite what was once there. If you're asking if you should install the apk on your computer, that wont work. Did that answer your question? If you are currently on I will be in the chat room to help.

well nothing i did worked and i didnt install the apk...trying again maybe i did something wrong

ok i just compiled it again but this time i copied the resource.arsc file from the newly compiled file to the old SystemUI.apk and added the png file with winrar..and still no status bar

still nothing i am using apktool 1.4.2 to decompile and 1.4.3 to recompile do these have problem with ics?

I'll PM you the completed file. I also noticed your png was not 540x600. I changed that, but remember that the image will be distorted since it can either be in landscape or portrait. You will need to squish your picture if you want it to look right in portrait. For a 450x450 circle I found it had to be about 450x410. Just play around with it.

It worked..i went and fixed the permissions reset and its there...thanks ....now was it just the picture was to big? And if i want to fix the picture can i just drag and drop a new one in?

Awesome! You should be able to create any 540x600 png, give it the same name and drag it over while in "archive."

Hi, i want to try that on cm10 System.ui, i just want that complete in Black, so I have to decompile, delete that line, Put a Black picture, size 540x900 in drawable hdpi, in that other System ui, than Compile that apk, ok so what to Do when apk Multi Tool is asking me with restoring?? Y/N?? Than Put that classes.dex from compiled to the other System. Ui? Right? sry for my noobish question, just beginning with theming...
