     A startup based out of Purdue University has released a new battery monitoring app to the Play Store.  Called Estar, this one does pretty much what you'd expect from a battery monitoring app; let you know what apps are using the most power, and allow you to shut them down.  Where this one is different is that it not only offers suggestions for similar apps you can install to replace the most power hungry ones on your device, but also ranks apps in the Play Store based on their energy efficiency.  So now you'll know if that new app everyone is talking about will be a power hog before you buy and install it.  The battery conscious among you can grab the app

nice i just might have to give this a whirl. Seems like some days my battery wont last half the work day and others ive got 60% still driving home

Mines been a lot better since I uninstalled the weather channel app. The latest update turned that one into a battery hog.
