If you're on a Share Everything plan then yes, if you have grandfathered unlimited or some other older plan then no, you still have to pay for it if you don't use this hack.

Just be careful if you don't have unlimited data because it WILL count towards you data usage (even if you are rooted and using a wifi tether hack). Im rooting using the Wifi Tether app.

noticed on jelly bean 4.1.1 update that the usb tether wont work says not subscribed but havent tried this yet working on now.

I am wondering if anyone is having the same issue as me, I have a Bionic running a custom Rom 247 based, I am trying to use the Hotspot Hack by editing the "entitlement check" i changed that to "0" and rebooted. Now When i go into Tethering & mobile hotspot, and click to turn on Mobile Hotspot.. It just freezes up and does nothing. It shows "Turning Mobile Hotspot on" but it never does anything beyond that. Anyone have any clue ?

Looks like you went to the wrong settings storage. Make sure to go into the one that starts with com.motorola.

I hacked hotspot by changing entitlement check. HotSpot started.
I tried to connect with HTC Flyer and Sony laptop. Connected succeessfully, but is no internet

Tried FoxFi - it's reboots my device
