I know, right. $25 to a local dev for unlock is much better than to a guy in another country with unauthorized unlock codes imo.

His posts on twitter don't say what firmware the g is on, but it Does say your device needs to be Temprooted with Pie. I haven't had any luck with any of the root methods on my new to me used ultra on 4.4.4. Should have done better research, but I'm only out 100 bucks and I still have my bionic to switch back to when my sim card adapter gets here.

4.4.4 has no root so it won't be unlockable.

Doesn't that mean that root would be likely for those?

Ummm, not publicly.  Sunshine performs any required root during the process.

BTW PEOPLE  - If you have  Moto device on 4.4.4, give it a shot.  It will not charge you any $'s if it doesn't work !

I thought one of the requirements was that you needed to be rooted.  I didn't know it'd root for you.

They've tried to make it completely automated.  The fact that it doesn't require payment until it works is just awesome in my book.  These guys have put a lot of time and thought into this.

Be careful with Sim adapters I've heard from a few people they broke the reader in their phones and I'm pretty sure one broke the reader in my HD.

It's usually the taking them out that is the problem. Use a piece of screen protector slid between to help extract.
