I am trying to copy my Stock Ringtones and Notification files FROM my phone to the External SD card.  I am rooted and I was trying to use File Expert but it doesn't see the files.  I went to both Phone Internal Storage and to the internal SD Card storage and they don't appear to be there.  Maybe I am looking in the wrong place but I looked at the following:

SD Card\media\audio\notifications but it says No Files

The whole reason for this is I installed nobe's

and it lacked those notifications.  I was hoping to at least put them back in.  I have a backup from before the update but I can't find what I'm looking for.  Any help would be appreciated.

If you know how to "open" or extract your backup files.... You can find them there (still under system.... Media...audio)

9 out of everyone just uses custom tones rather then the stuff that is in the stock roms. That is why only the default ones are in there. If you really want them I can zip them up so that you can extract them onto your external storage.

That I don't know how to do.  It would be a great lesson to learn if you are willing to teach.  I would appreciate it.

Nobe,  Whatever you are willing to do is appreciated as well.  I need to learn all I can too.

Are you familiar and proficient with Linux?

Let me think about that......NO.  Never needed to learn I'm afraid.  Guess I have a lot more to learn that I thought.

Thanks anyway John.

Linux is really really easy, and fun.... You can grab a "live CD " of any distro you want (most people use Ubuntu or linux mint) boot it up on your PC and play around with it without changing or harming your windows system but I digress

There is a tool called the android kitchen.... (You can get it for windows as well)..... It will easily decompile most any part of an android system (boot.IMG, system.IMG, backups, etc etc....... Its easy to use (has an extremely small learning curve)

But you can also wait for Nobe to zip up the stock sounds for you (and everyone else) lol

LOL  That is hilarious.  I think I will find that software and give it a try.

Thanks for everything.  I booted back to my earlier version so I could get what I was looking for.  Found them right where you said.  NICE.

Great advice.  All of you guys are AWESOME.  I glad you don't mind giving guys like me a little help every now and then.

Well basically Android is a Linux Based system. To understand the functions of Android and how to modify it. One must be One with some Linux Knowledge. Here is that zip <<<<<<

You can extract this onto your internal storage, but remember that if you are running just straight Stock you will have duplicate selections in the options when you select the one for default... Just FYI..

Me personally would try it out on a live USB if you have a updated laptop that can boot off of USB. Much faster then a Live CD
