If your flashing roms you have to be unlocked, with a custom recovery, which means you don't have to use an exploit to gain root.  Just download and flash supersu. There is a thread under general support.  Hint search for chainfire or supersu to find the thread.

On a side note. All one needs to do after a rsd, hom, whatever is fastboot the twrp recovery image and have it root the OS. Apon booting into the OS just install SuperSu from playstore, have it update the binary and poof...
