Hi all,

 

Geez, where has the time gone? Just wanted to say hi to all my friends on here! Life has definitely taken over since the beginning of the year and spare time has been hard to find. I've been so busy that my upgrade window was 4 months ago but I have yet to get a new device! I know that is hard to believe for most! On that topic, what device is leading the way? A new device will mean I will want to get back in the game so I am looking forward to upgrading. I know the Note 4 comes out tomorrow, but what else is getting people excited? Nexus 6? I can wait till November ;)

If you aren't sticker shocked, the N6 is the way to go IMO.  If you are on VZW, that is your  best option followed by the X 2nd gen, G3, M8.  The G3 currently has root and custom recovery available.  The M8 has an unlock that is $25 thru Sunshine.  The X 2nd Gen is locked up currently.  The N6, as long as nothing changes, is a all US carrier device, which means the same device for Tmo, AT&T or VZW !  Wow, right?

Thanks for the opinion! I was thinking along the same lines and it's always good to get those ideas backed by another! Yeah, I'm still on VZW and have looked at the N6. It's good news that VZW is bringing the N6 on board! I am looking forward to modifying whatever device I end up with!

True, but that thing will be like the X 2nd and locked up.  Things on 4.4.4 are touch and go with root and unlock (some are, some aren't)  L 5.0 is not going to help that situation at all, so be prepared to stay stock that route.

So I just went to the Verizon store and saw that the Moto X does not have an external SD card slot?! What's up with that? I'll go in next week to check out the note 4. 2.7gHz quad core, 3gb ram and about 3200mah on the battery. I think its worth checking out even if I have to wait awhile for root.

The M8 was nice but I was surprised when the specs said only 12hrs battery life so I didn't look into it too much. What G3 are you taking about? LG?
