WARNING: You REALLY need to UNDERSTAND and read EVERYTHING or you MAY brick your phone!

Purpose of this thread:

To get you, the locked or unlocked Droid Ultra/Maxx owner, from any version to 4.4.4 (SU5.23 [ota] or SU5.24 [newer than ota....use caution]).

Things you will need:

FXZ SU5.23 Maxx <-- This is the OTA

FXZ SU5.24 Maxx <-- Newer than OTA...use caution. UPDATE: Looks like this is rolling out to some people.  Could be the "new ota".

Instructions:

Use the RSD Flasher with KEEP DATA to flash this on your phone with RSD.

OR

Use the House of Moto with KEEP DATA to flash this to your phone with fastboot.

This will get you a clean OTA install with no data loss.  You will lose root.

If you have an unlocked bootloader, how can you restore root?

So it turns out this FXZ is one build newer than the OTA.  I'll be posting the build 23 FXZ's soon.

Most people didn't.  I didn't, either, when I got the images. I have the new (old?) ones ready to go so when I get a minute I'll post them.

I used the "new ota" then a update came along with it. I did something with RSD Lite and now i'm stuck on the Motorola logo. I need the file for the update on that new ota immediately, please. Thank You.

Immediately is not in Moto's vocabulary.  It could take days/weeks get the file out on a OTA, depends on your carrier.  You don't specify what phone you have or what you were doing with RSD Lite, ie flashing a rom etc.  Are you unlocked?  Other than a demand you have given us nothing to work with.  No crystal ball here.

It wasn't a demand. How did it sound like one? But I requested access to the file from Motorola...no email yet... but it was only a bug fix I think because the update was a small size. Like 20.6MB im not sure exactly. But It's locked. Does it have to be unlocked to flash the file I have so far?

Hello,

I am new to this site and new to the XT1080M.  In any case, I have a BL unlocked XT1080M that is running SU4-21.

Firstly, I noticed that the links to the 1FF-obakem_verizon-user-4.4.4-SU5-23-release-keys.xml.zip file in the OP is not working.

The link https://web.archive....s.org/index.phpdoesn't have an archive for the XT1080M.

The Motorola site http://motofirmware....y/18-droid-maxxonly has these firmwares:

1FF-obake-maxx_verizon-user-4.4.4-SU6-7.2-release-keys.xml.zip

CFC-obake-maxx_verizon-user-4.4.4-SU6-7.2-release-keys.xml.zip

1FF-obake-maxx_verizon-user-4.4.4-SU6-7-release-keys.xml.zip

However, I did find some links to various XT1080 firmwares: https://yadi.sk/d/MC...7ZZ/XT1030-1080

What is the difference between firmwares with 1FF vs CFC in the filename?  The firmwares available for download that I can find are all CFC excepting versions SU4-21, SU6-7, and SU6-7.2.  In particular, I found SU6-7 and SU6-7.2 have 1FF as well as CFC versions- I couldn't find a CFC version of SU4-21.  So the recommended firmware in the OP is unavaiblable for download, but what about using some of the more modern firmwares, namely SU6-7.2, SU6-7, and SU5-24?

The other question I have is whether installing any firmware such as SU6-7.2 can lock my BL.  I assume that the answer is no, but I want to be sure.

Sorry for the overwhelming post, but I want to be sure of what I'm doing before I bork something.

Links are dead. Gives the 404 error. Got a used phone and its on the 24.13.2 (4.4.4) version. Sunshine failed to root. I had no problem paying $25 for a root/unlocked BL.

To powerful to fall into my hands. Click......Rooted. ICS rommed!!!!! Muhahahahah!!!!
