dont get one with ios6 until it can be jailbroken.

as a former iphone user, I've often defended its capabilities while in a jailbroken state. that said, the stock os could be frustrating for someone used to Android.

Oh yeah I know. I used to jailbreak my ipod touch for a few years before I owned an android device. Its very unlikely I will get an iphone though. Im thinking of droping big red, buying a nexus and going prepaid until the google/dish thing goes through (pleasepleasepleasepleaseplease!)

iPhone 4, 3G and 3GS can be jailbroken on iOS 6. They're only waiting on the iPhone 4S and the 5 now.

I'm aware of this. I assumed that someone posting on a techblog enthusiast site wasn't interested in buying a two year old phone, which I think is pretty fair.

The existence of a jailbreak for those devices also doesn't guarantee anything regarding the modern devices.

edit for clarity: I'm not trying to be argumentative, I just don't see what the point is in saying that the 3GS and 4 have JBs available. I don't think anyone would recommend a 2-3 year old Apple product based on availability of a JB, so I assumed (perhaps incorrectly) that you were trying to say that the existence of a JB for those is evidence that one is coming for the newer devices, which isn't true due to the way that the JB is achieved on the older devices (hardware vulnerability that doesn't exist on A5 and newer devices...I'm sure you knew that, I'm just throwing it out there for anyone else reading).

If you were merely pointing out that I was technically incorrect in saying that iOS 6 doesn't have a JB for it, then fine. Though that still leaves the door open for some bickering, I have zero desire to go down that path and it really isn't relevant to someone looking to buy a phone right now imo.

So this may be my demise on this forum... So know first, I love you all ;)

I think it is obvious that android is much more complicated than iOS in many ways. I think arguing that this isn't the case is un unsinkable argument. I have always told those around me, when asked to help them select a phone, if your not "techie" don't get android. There is a reason I get my parents and grandparents on iOS and my programming friends, and all, all use android. Simply put... It is more complicated. BUT... IT IS A MUCH BETTER PHONE! There are 8 BILLION advantages to owning and android phone, as I do... Proudly.... But the advantage is CLEARLY NOT that it is easier to use than an iPhone.
