So, it seems there is a vulnerability in some of Samsung's phones. This exploit could potentially allow a malicious piece of software full r-w access to the phones physical memory.... All of it.
Right now, this can be fixed by setting the contents of /dev/exynos-mem to read-only. The only problem is that changing permissions on this folder will disable key features such as Camera and HDMI.
This doesn't just extend to the SGS3, but to the SGS2 and Note 2. I'm sure Samsung will be releasing a hotfix for it soon, but there's no telling how long that will take.
In the meantime, I would suggest heading over to the XDA forum listed below and taking a look at what you can do to protect yourself.
