Please do yourself a favor and read, read again, and read one more time before installing and using this tool.  If it's set up correctly, it's very easy to use.  But if you don't follow directions, it'll either not work or not do what you expect.  Failure to read and follow the directions is NOT a defect of the tool!

Mission statement:

This tool will allow you to flash a Nexus factory image or OTA zip to your device.

WARNING: If you don't pay attention to EVERYTHING, you will lose data so READ, READ AGAIN, and READ ONE MORE TIME™!

DOWNLOADS:

House of Nexus

Platform Tools (Windows)

Platform Tools (Mac)

Platform Tools (Linux)

Nexus Factory Image

Open Recovery

SuperSU

NOTES:

  • You MUST have Java 7 or higher installed and correctly set up to allow it to run executable jars!
  • You only need the Platform Tools for your chosen environment (Windows, Mac, or Linux)

INSTALL:

  • Extract HouseOfNexus-#.#.zip to your C:\ drive (Windows) or \ (Mac or Linux).  If you extract it somewhere else, make sure there are NO spaces in the path else it'll fail.
  • Windows - Extract the platform tools zip into the C:\HouseOfNexus\TOOLS folder and overwrite what is there.
  • Copy your factory image to the HouseOfNexus\IMAGES folder
  • Optional - Add open recovery img file to the recovery directory.  The filename MUST include the device name (e.g. marlin, shamu, angler, etc)
  • Optional - Add supersu zip file to the SUPERSU directory
  • Run the HouseOfNexus.jar file
  • Select the factory image you copied to your HouseOfNexus\IMAGES folder

USAGE:

Factory Image:

  • Ensure your device is charged and in AP Fastboot mode.  The process to get into AP Fastboot mode may differ depending on device.  Search is your friend.
  • Ensure your device is connected to USB and the fastboot drivers are installed.  Again, search.
  • In the HouseOfNexus\NEXUS folder, run the flashme.bat file (Windows) or flashme.sh as sudo (Mac or Linux).  WARNING: Do NOT run this unless you are ready to start flashing.  It starts immediately.

NOTE: Follow directions during flashing.  You will be asked several important questions during flashing.  If you do not pay attention to what it's asking, you will end up blowing away your data partition so READ CAREFULLY.

OTA:

  • Ensure your device is charged, booted, and USB Debugging is enabled.  Search is your friend.
  • Ensure your device is connected to USB and the ADB drivers are installed.  Again, search.
  • In the HouseOfNexus\NEXUS folder, run the flashme.bat file (Windows) or flashme.sh as sudo (Mac or Linux)
  • Follow directions to sideload OTA zip

OPTIONAL:

  • Boot to fastboot mode, run the HouseOfNexus\NEXUS\recovery.xxx script to memory boot custom recovery
  • Boot to custom recovery (see previous step), run the HouseOfNexus\NEXUS\supersu.xxx script to sideload supersu

Report your findings in this thread.  Copy and paste from the script cmd window into this thread so I can see what the output looks like.

If you feel inclined to do so, be my guest.  :)  You'll want to get this setup anyway, as it'll make the next update super easy to do.  Just grab the factory image, drop it in the IMAGES folder, run the jar to generate the script, and have at it.  I tried to make this process as simple as possible.

Okie dokey. Kaos has me like a pro now with fastboot and saving data. Nice to have an better understanding of what's happening, which really makes me appreciate this utility.

Wait til you see this thing.  I've taken my experience working on House of Bionic and House of Moto over the past couple years and drove it into this new utility.  Take a look at the generated script sometime and see what kind of magic is going on behind the curtain.  And remember that the script is generated.  :D

I hope so!  On both counts.  :)  The script generator cheats on some of the code, obviously, but, the fastboot commands are all generated.  And if it doesn't know about a partition, it'll tell you so you can tell me.  For the factory images I've seen so far, it seems to work fine.

We'll figure out the NX4 weirdness somehow.  That one I don't get what's happening but we'll get to the bottom of it.

1.2 released

o) Preliminary, *UNTESTED*, Mac/Linux support added. You MUST have fastboot in your path for this to work.  It must also be run as sudo.  e.g. sudo ./flashme.sh

o) Misc fixes to the UI and generated scripts.

Worked like a champ for me.  After running script, phone rebooted opened to TWRP, asked me if I wanted root/superuser, I clicked yes, was then prompted to install via play store or TWRP, I chose Play, phone rebooted.  I checked for root, which at first said I did not have root, yet Superuser granted the app permission.  Rebooted, checked again, root, and no loss of data.  All in less than five minutes!  Happy New Year, all!

Sweet.  That's what we like to hear.  Thanks, Kelly.  For those wondering, that was on the NX5.

Havent actually used it yet on the MAC yet, but the code it generated looks perfect from what I can see. :)

You need to update the OP to run either flashme.bat for Win or ./flashme.sh as su (sudo ./flashme.sh) for Mac/Linux. but of course you accounted for su reminder in the script

Being new to Nexus/Google devices myself, I was momentarily confused with their Factory image tgz and what file from within it the tool needed since theirs has img files, another folder with the image, etc. quickly realized it was image-shamu-lrx22c.zip that was needed.

As Always much THANKS Sam!!!!

OK, so some quick questions, as this is my very first Nexus device, and my computer is literally chock full of device drivers (a rather old Windows 7 image on the machine currently).

  1. Drivers for USB connectivity to Windows 7 x64:  Google USB drivers, or Motorola USB drivers?
  2. USB 3 connectors out, or usable?
  3. Any particular reason everyone is pushing SuperSU these days as opposed to my (still favorite) Open Source su and Superuser from Koush?

1. Google

2. You can try...no promises as it's still a USB 2 port on the device

3. Yes, SuperSU has been VERY actively developed on lollipop.

UPDATE: For Mac/Linux the permissions on the flashme.sh file need to be changed to make it executable so for those unsure:

chmod +x flashme.sh should do the trick
