I recently bought this XT907 on eBay. "New - Other". It is new, really; it's just one of the many units that were purchased and returned and couldn't be sold as new. I think I figured out WHY they were returned:  These XT907s suffer from

I have searched droidrzr.com and found no thread about it, so I will briefly explain. At the start of any sound played by the OS (notification, ring, etc.) there is a pop in the speaker. People have stated that this began with the KitKat update, but my phone came with 4.1.2 and was already doing it.

My Razr M is rooted and unlocked, and I have updated from 4.1.2 to

.  I still have the pop.

CM developers fixed this issue in CM11, according to

I am not familiar with Android kernel versions vs. OS versions. Is this kernel from June ok to flash alongside 183.46.15?  Or do I need more information before that question can be answered?

Thanks.

I continue to research this... In

, I find this statement:

A proper fix for the latest stock ROM updates can't be made until the latest kernel source is published by Motorola.

CM includes the fix for it for some time already, so if you want to get rid of it right now, switch to custom ROMs.

If you want to stay on stock ROM, you'll have to wait for the new stock kernel source release. As soon as it will become available, I'll upload the recompiled boot.img with the fix.

That was in September, and since then I don't know if Motorola released the kernel source. I will continue researching.

So no one here on droidrzr.com had this speaker pop issue? If so please post any info you have.

Thanks.

I'm a longtime Linux user but I'm no dev, and

to be dangerous.

Actually, no, I will not be dangerous ... but I want to get rid of this annoying speaker pop.

... or I could just forego stock rom and switch to CM...
