What message does he get when it fails? Did he root after fastbooting back to .211? If he did root did he back up root then temp unroot before trying to update?

Is he trying to update with less then 50% battery? Might be a new failsafe on the leak. Tell him to charge it up and try again. I will look into it more.

SS 3.05 then fastbooted to start off on a clean slate and rerooted using Matts utility. The fail load came after all that and didn't reinstall ss

I had this issue. The 1st time it updated but something went wrong so I went back to .211 and had to wipe everything.... 2x..... and I also redownloaded fvrom a different place (or link).... and then it worked perfectly minus root. So I lost root doing this. But I was thankful to finally get it running ...

I had the asset_failed.. apply patch check thing././..

So I've been following Gytole's Ez Guide and the droidrzr main page post for installing jb, but I keep receiving the same assert failed message mentioned earlier I'm really jealous of people able to run the new test roms sprouting about.

I have ss3.07 installed on Fastbooted 2.11
Rooted, installed voodoo's ota root keeper,
protected root, temp unroot, restored, temp unroot, restored (I've seen on both the main page and Gytole's Ez guide that Root needs to be restored (NOT Temp unroot) before applying the update
The update keeps failing with-

assert failed: apply_patch_check("/system/bin/logwrapp
er","f39fcb2d78b9e92e9fbedc6a62a047dc23459416","4a63
fec78956def045b442910a754fa640db8f5a")
E:Error in /tmp/sideload/pacage.zip
(status 7)
Installation aborted

I don't want to wait for root to become available on JB, so i don't want to Fastboot and apply the update without protecting root first. Not sure if Root is necessarily the problem, but I've downloaded the update through 3 separate mirrors and have tried to apply the update with each of them, all resulting in failure. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Wipe all before and after...

Use matts utility to go back to. 211
Wipe all you can from the recovery screen in android menu
Apply update from external card
Wipe yet again.

Then reboot and that is what I did when I had same problem. Also used 2nd download of jb leak, but sorry I don't remember where it was from.

Good luck

Call me anal But whenever I do a Major update I completely wipe everything including the sd and sd-ext before fastbooting back to stock and applying anything necessary to do what needs to be done. I can honestly say I have never had any major issues at all.

Also I would recommend using the dual boot tool by xlightwaverx if still on ICS.
