I have Jelly Bean 4.1.2 (i bought the phone with this OS) but the ram and battery performance are patetic.

If i go back to gingerbread the ram usage will be lower and battery life will increase?

The battery life is 8 hours (mid bright, wifi on).

Is rooted.

I can't imagine GB on the Razr would be anything worthwhile, and would probably suck.  In fact, if it's anything like the Bionic it would be awful.

As for installing a custom ROM, you'd have to SafeStrap it and go from there.  I doubt you'll be able to use a GB ROM, if you could find one.

AOKP is going to be JB and I guess they played around with CM11 (based on 4.4 KK on the RAZR).  Back on my Bionic I had better luck with AOKP.  I have no clue how well CM11 runs on the RAZR.

Kind of your only option.

You may run into kernel problems. I'm unfamiliar with the xt912 but we have a plethora of info and options in the xt912 sub forum. I'm also going to advise against downgrades, you lose valuable security fixes. Check the newer ROMs as they may have fixed the issues your experiencing.
