Edit===
Well while this was good back a while ago, it seems to be obsolete now so I'm removing the links so mo one kills their device.

Welcome to my Droid Razr Hacking Help Guide:

I created this guide for myself to make sure I had all the steps covered and figured maybe others would like it.

I'm not going to tell you I'm an expert in anyway shape or form. Just wrote these steps from other threads and from experience

Does the razar maxx have a bootstrap app installed already? I seen on another post you can't have two on your phone. I've looked, but can't find one. Thanks

No that is an added program that you must add. So if you didn't it's not installed...

I believe you're referring to numerous posts about having both, bootstrap and safestrap installed at the same time. Avoid doing this. Lol

Hello,
I have a Droid Razr CDMA /Verizon and want to upgrade to ICS 4.0.
ON:
6.12.181
android 2.3.6

The reason I need to do this is I'm in Dominican Republic and need to get my phone on the CDMA network here or

the update will allow the device to be put on a GSM network outside the USA. I read that somewehere.

The device is not on verizon now.
What is the process to goto ICS. And what are the caution measures?
Thanks.

Verizon this afternoon confirmed that four of its CDMA Android smartphones will receive software updates that allow them to connect to GSM networks outside the United States. The phones are the HTC Rezound, the Motorola Droid RAZR and RAZR MAXX, and the Motorola Droid 4. All four of the phones phones are 4G LTE capable and thus have SIM cards, which generally is a hallmark of a GSM device.
Said Verizon:

Customers will see a notification on their device when the software update is available for their device. After the software update, customers will be able to take their smartphone overseas and use voice service in more than 220 countries and receive data in more than 205 countries.

Of course, you'll need to add some global service to your Verizon plan. Or, and this is the really good news -- Verizon tells us the phones already are SIM unlocked, so you should be able to use a prepaid SIM once you're in-country. If you don't travel outside the U.S., well, you can just go about your domestic business.
