First wipe data/factory reset from the Motorola menu. RSD Lite 5.6 should always work unless you did something wrong in the guide or got a corrupt/incomplete download.... Download the update via Wi-Fi or Cell Data from 6.11.744 to get to 6.11.748, then install the upgrade .zip like in the 6.12.173 Installation Guide.

Ive tried multiple different downloads of RSD, did the factory reset, used different data cables, and used two seperate XP machines all resulting in the same outcome.

What is it doing? Be sure to check to be sure the screen on the phone doesn't say battery low... It will fail every time then... I had to make a "factory" cable to charge while rsd to get back... I used the inards of my droid 1 dock and put the brown and red wire together... Then plugged inline with the usb cable I have and walla....

+1 This

Also... when you say "RSD Failed" I need to know the details. What errors, what problems, etc. If you follow the guide word for word it works. If you can get TeamViewer I can try to make it work

If you are back on .744 already why do you need RSD in the first place?

IMO we need to know why or what error you are getting when trying to install the .748 OTA update.

It would be helpful to know what the issue with RSD is. What happens when you try to flash?

i have searched quite a bit and have not found a similar issue. My main goal is to get my razar to the .173 build and maintain root. I was at .748 and wanted to flash back to stock (.744) to start from a "fresh starting point" after downloading the the most current version of rsdLITTE (5.6 anyways), the most current moto drivers, and the applicable sbf files. I tried flashing the fast boot files per the instructions that are available on various droid forums. My problem is RSD does not recognize my phone when my phone is in fastboot mode. When my phone is in normal ops. RSD see's my phone. If I start the flashing process RSD will say "switching the phone to fastboot mode" and I watch it physically see it happen on my phone (it switches to fastboot) after a period of time RSD says "phone failed to switch to fastboot". I asked around all over the place and no one has heard of this or had an idea of how to fix. So I ended up learning bit about ADB and found the files to manually (through command prompt) flash to744. I cant find the files to manually update to build .748 or .173. I tried to update via OTA to .748 several times all resulting in failures. Ive tried different downloads of the sbf files, rsdlite, and the moto drivers. I am running xp pro and tried two different machines and several different cables all of the combinations resulting in the same issues as described above when attempting to flash with RSD.

Note: Im quite positive this is not a usb cable problem as every other razr/pc interface works, i can transfer files, use pda.net, charge...etc. The phone wont OTA update any attempt results in a failure.

If you are back on .744 now, and updates are failing... have you done a factory reset from the moto recovery? To get 100% back to stock you need to both fastboot then do a factory reset.

Moving to help section as this isn't a development issue.

Ok i have done a reset and am on .744 but any attempt at an OTA update fails. I need fast boot files that i can use with command prompt to get to .173 and maybe a little instruction. I have ADB all set up im just not sure how to exactly flash the appropriate files.

Do you have any apps frozen, like with titanium backup or bloat freezer? That will kill an OTA every time.

I had the same issue the other night (something about not authenticating with motorola server) and from settings I had to do goto privacy and do a factory reset. Then i could add a google account and then get the ota to 748.. then rooted and used ota rootkeeper to unroot and do the 173 update from moto recovery

Just to be on the safe side i tried again....did a full wipe, twice. Attempted an OTA update. Result: Fail
Nothing is frozen about the only thing i can think of is that when i used kohlks "one click fastboot via command prompt" which is what got me to. 744 something got corrupted in my phones "stock" files. My problems with RSD began before that which is why i was exploring other options in the first place. battery levels are more than adequate.

And nothing is frozen....btw and after hearing we may never get our bootloader unlocked i am afraid this will be my last motorola. Listen up moto you're not the only game in town there are plenty of other phones that perform as well or better. Ya'll are ******* in your own nest.

So are yu using rsd 5.6 with the appropriate drivers installed or are you using the 1-click script? That could obviously be a problem... rsd 5.6 should work.. you might wanna try updating moto drivers as well

Also, are you running as admin?

Without the error messages... there's not much we can do to help. That's like trying to get a car fixed over the phone by saying "it's not running right" ... the more info, the more we can do to help :)
