So, how do you make things transparent without using opacity?
I am the one who made the theme, and it is my first. I have zero background in this so bare with me I'm learning. :)
However, aside from the one or two in this thread, I have not heard any complaints about speed or lack of.

Well it looks nice regardless. Most first time themes I've seen almost look like a rainbow. But your color contrast flows perfectly...

Anyway, your opacity is barely the issue - at least for new computers. I'm running a 4-5 year old machine and it renders the site perfectly once I disable your background image. The only way to avoid the lag is to opt out the background image (and you have 2 set).

My suggestion to you is if you don't want people to complain, instead of setting the background image as a fixed position, try doing a repeat-y and see how that looks. Also, you have 2 background images set on the page.

One on your <body id="ipboard_body"> tag and then another one your <div id="content"> tag.

The repeat-y will make the bg scroll with the forum, right?
Cause that's what I don't want. I like how it stays.
As for the 2 bg images, I did not set it up that way, I just put the images in place. How would you fix this? Just remove the bg line from content so it defaults to body?
I seriously am learning as I'm going here. I have no background in this.

Ok, I removed content BG. Thank you for the help. Let me know if that makes it any better?

Yup, works fine!

If you ever need any help, I work as a web designer (php,html4/5,ajax,etc..) as well as a c++ developer. Just send me a PM if you have any questions.

Blame it on Matt. LOL, well, really though, I use Chrome on my PC and the only time I notice any lag is when scrolling through a page and coming upon one of Matt's posts on the page. It's not just once in a while, it's every post of his. The post comes into view and the scrolling speed slows quite a bit. Continue scrolling until the post is off the screen and it speeds up instantly. It's his signature I'm sure that causes it for me. Every time without fail. No biggie, just wondering if anybody else has noticed it. Sorry Matt. Couldn't resist saying it. :)
