Well Otterbox Defender cases aren't bulletproof. I dropped my phone today and it must have hit just right because it busted the lcd but not the front glass. Does anyone have a bricked HD laying around with a good screen? How much for it? Cant spend much cause I'm right before upgrading so it really doesn't make sense for me to even worry about it.

Ouch. Well, I was hoping not to have to spend that much. I have an upgrade coming first of April, but just hurt my feelings to bust a unlocked phone and wanted to fix it. Is it likely that prices may come down or is it more likely that I'll wind up not being able to find parts?

Both depending on time. Of the three N4 screens I got they dropped in price each time. When the N6 dropped the prices started going up, and ship time increased as well. Check eBay and amazon for OEM displays. My last N4 screens was from amazon, paid a tad more but was prime shipped vs the 2week wait etradesupply had for customs since the Texas location was out of stock.

Ok, if you were gonna stay with Moto would you suggest a Turbo, Maxx or X? None but the G or E have SD slots, which sucks but I guess since Google seems to not want to support SD I suppose that's why there aren't any SD slots.

The turbo is a great phone, but they have only this weekend achieved root. Bootloader is still locked.

The X, I would look at the pure edition. It is like a Developer Edition and comes from the factory with a unlockable bootloader.  It also comes in 32 & 64 gig versions. The drawback to the Pure Edition is that it is mainly a T Moble phone.

The Droid Maxx is also a good phone it is unlockable through sunshine exploit but verizon is only offering it in 16 gig version.

On the 18th of this month Verizon is going to be rolling out the Nexus 6 (built by Motorola) that phone is factory unlockable and has the same specs as the turbo except for the 6" display.

You couldn't run fast enough to give me a samsung anything.

I am trying to root, install CWM, and have the ability to change roms with my Motorola Droid Razr Maxx HD XT926M running 4.1.2.

I've managed to get the phone rooted.

My PC system is Ubuntu 14.04LTS. I do have W7 but very seldom use it.

I am currently having trouble getting ADB to recognize the phone.

Attached is the /etc/udev/rules.d/51-android.rules:

Any help appreciated.

OR, if anyone knows of a tutorial for W7 that is for THIS phone. Please advise.

Thanks,

dlw

There is a entire thread with instructions and files needed to root, unlock, and install a custom recovery for the 926. You have to unlock the phone to install a custom recovery.  Also you will end up upgrading the phone to the .10 version of KitKat to root and unlock.  Follow the instructions and you will have no problem.  Don't follow the instructions and you will either brick your phone or end up on a version of kitkat that can't be unlocked.  Take your time and read and read again.
