Here is a little project I've been working on and it makes the life of custom ROM developers on locked phone's much easier. I got a whole long story behind this but you can read that in the Dev Lounge if you are a Superuser or above.

This is just like the DroidRazrUtility where you extract the .zip file to a new folder on your desktop.

For the Verizon DROID RAZR XT912 and the GSM Motorola RAZR XT910 and the DROID BIONIC and the DROID 4 you will want to choose the file to run:
'InstallerForExt3Devices.bat'

For the Verizon DROID RAZR HD XT926, Motorola RAZR HD XT925, Motorola RAZR M XT905, Verizon DROID RAZR M XT907, Motorola Atrix HD MB886, and some other modern devices you will can to choose the file to run:
"InstallerForExt4Devices.bat'

For legacy devices choose yaffs2 installer. You won't need this most likely.

What this does:
Installs Init.d Support
Installs Adbd Insecured

What is Adbd Insecured?
It allows you to run special adb commands you couldn't before that let you push files directly to /system/

You can use this where-ever you want, modify it however you want, do with it what you will. Its yours to use and own. Open Source and Do Whatever You Want.

I'm assuming you need root to use this, and i wouldn't be able to use the push to /system ability to root my phone, correct?

So, would this work if I'm running rooted stock? Also, if it DOES work on rooted stock, once I apply it, will it require me to fastboot back to .211 in order to accept the pending JB OTA update? (I'm waiting for the "official" official OTA, new fastboot images and rooting before I apply this to my MAXX).

Thanks again Matt for all you do. You and all the other devs are the best as is this site!

I don't think it would ruin OTA updated but I've never tried it before.

Yes you can run on stock rooted though.

Worst case if update fails you run the utility option 1 then go re-root and protect/update root again.

Thanks Matt.

I went ahead and ran it against my stock ROM and all I can say is a big "Thank You!". It's nice to be able to do an adb remount (and also to have root as default when adb shelling) on my phone.

Init.d is also great as I mount certain directories from my external SD card, so I had resorted to using ScriptManager to run those on boot. Nice to have init.d on stock do it for me now.

Thanks again for all your hard work you do for this phone. It is much appreciated.

If I was rooted I would be all over this. Hoping for a new root method for 98.72.8 very soon!

You didn't get all that many responses on XDA that I saw and 2 of the 3 were criticizing your OP. Pretty petty if you ask me, gotta love this place!

I asked for help over there once... only 1 guy helped me and he called me stupid and incompetent. I love XDA more than anything. -_-

I know when I was in the X2 community on XDA, it was a very friendly and happening place (especially when some user called Melvin, who claimed to be a contractor with Motorola, posted he was going to release code to unlock the boot loader on it and we all waited for hours only to find out we had been suckered big time. Guy even went so far as to upload an OTA to make it appear as if it was legit!)

Then, when we all called him out, he got mad, left the community and then all of a sudden, a NEW poster came in and posted about a Motorola contractor that had been fired and was being arrested for leaking boot loader unlocking keys. I searched and found the ACTUAL article, which pointed to some employee with Apple or something like that. They just changed the company names and technology mentioned so that it "fit" with Melvin. We figured it was Melvin again and we called him out on it and that guy got mad and left. Too funny!

Anyways, fun times were had during that, including one poster (Ash) who was SO drunk and SO ticked over "Melvin" suckering us, he went into a drunken, profanity-laced tirade both in the forum AND on twitter! It was TOO funny and we all got a laugh out of it. Ahh, I miss those days sometimes! ;)

As for the RAZR community over there, I haven't found them to be TOO bad, but definitely not as friendly as it was in the X2 community on XDA nor as friendly and helpful as it is here. I definitely come here first for my RAZR info.

So, keep up the great work, as I stated before. It IS appreciated.

I asked for some help on a GNex issue I was having a while back. Wife was little upset with the phone because she couldn't use the camera or anything involving internal memory. I couldn't get anyone to answer my questions.
