I choose the Bionic because I'm a Motorola fanboy and it was the first Moto LTE phone available on Verizon.

Wow, thanks!

I seriously considered a RAZR, but it was the removable battery that sealed the deal. I stick with the Bionic because I love my phone! I haven't yet seen another that has me interested enough to dump my bionic. It's been through a lot, including a swim in the washing machine and being soft bricked. And through it all it keeps on ticking. It's by far the best phone I ever had.

I picked the Bionic when my horrible LG Optimus C phone became to much of a headache to use. After a couple months of casual research and poking around I discovered the Bionic a phone with such a botched and troubled history that I easily could afford a used one and still get the specs I needed, so I didn't hesitate. The reason why I'm sticking with it is because its been nothing but reliable for me especially on ICS.

I am probably one of very few who ended up with this device because of the turbulent history rather then sticking with it in spite of it.

Thanks for the contest guys!

The main thing that made me want the Bionic was the dual core & LTE together in one phone. I'd sworn off contracts though, so i doubted i'd be able to get one. However, the Bionic was destined to be mine... I was one of the few very lucky people to win one from Verizon during their augmented reality scavenger hunt. It's been with me ever since. I did, briefly, consider selling it for a Nexus 7, but that notion has long-since past. The arrival of ICS and the promise of JellyBean (crosses fingers that it will actually happen) effectively killed that thought. I can't imagine letting this thing go now, especially since the radio can be easily hacked to work on TMobile or AT&T's GSM networks. I'll be using this thing until it dies. Awesome Phone!

I got the Bionic for alot of the same reasons listed above, the specs, first dual core, removable battery ect.... I have switched to the Razr Maxx but passed the Bionic to my son who has totally fallen in love with it and I added the lapdock for a Christmas present for him so he now thinks he is the coolest guy in class!

I came from the OG DROID so I wanted to stay with MOTO. Wanted LTE and dual core. I really liked the idea of a removable battery and the extended battery. Really haven't seen a phone since that makes me want to switch. Plus with the support of SamuraiHL, it was fun and exciting getting the leaks and using HOB!!! Long live the BIONIC!!!!!!!!!!!!

Honestly I just wanted a change from the Incredible 2 that I already had and was looking to give Moto a try. I chose the Bionic not knowing about rooting or roms. Doing some searching around and with the help of this awesome site I rooted and romed my phone and was surprised to continuously see development for the device. I love to come to the forum and thanks to these awesome developers, see a new rom or mod release. Honestly I love this phone. I have become a addict at flashing. I hope to maybe gain enough knowledge to hopefully someday start building roms.
Thanks for the chance at adding to the fun of owning the Bionic!!

I chose the bionic because I wanted to go back to Motorola after having an HTC. 4g and dual core caught my attention as well. I started with a G1 but the OG Droid is what i learned the most on and felt I knew more about Moto then any other manufacturer. The reason I didnt give up on the bionic has alot to do with our awesome devs and SamuriHL's HoB. People like them kept this phone alive and kicking in my opinion. I learned alot from them and just want to thank them for not letting this device fade.

Seeing as the bionic was my first smartphone, and knowing nothing about rooting or custom roms at the time, i purchased it over the galaxy nexus due to the removable battery and expandable storage possibilities, 2 things that are still must-have's for me in any new phones. I seem to have stuck with it due to the amazing work that people like Hashcode have done bringing us gifts and keeping our devices relevant. It makes it fun to work with when you are still getting updating things! Even though it seems to have been neglected by Big Red, The Bionic development community has not given up!

I chose the bionic as my very first smartphone. As my tmobile contract ended i wanted to switch to verizon. so i headed out to costco around christmas to pick out a phone. they had very little smartphone slection. The og droid razr the galaxy nexus and my fateful bionic. I didnt know anything about smartphones or android, all i knew was that i liked customization and i wanted to stay way far away from apple. What drew me to the moto driod line of phones was their advertising. The red & black and the iconic robotic droid tone stuck in my head from being bombarded with og droid TV commericals. The deciding factor was price in the end. The bionic was only 99 while the razr was quite a bit more at the time. Having to switch the entire family over to a new plan was not cheap so i chose the bionic with it's one ghz dual core processor. I took it to church the first week i had it and my friends kept telling me that i should root my phone, that rooting was sort of like jailbreaking and that you could unlock the full potential of your phone. having been on stock motoblur for a while i wanted to see some change. So i started my flashing journey on xda, reading countless forum posts and bricking my phone quite a few times.

I chose to find a bionic after finding out my D3 wouldn't see anything other than gingerbread. I bought this broken bionic on ebay, couldn't unbrick it (no power, white led off death), sent it in for Motorola warranty before it expired, received a brand spanking new replacement! Not bad for $80. And i still get to keep unlimited data!

I still have two unlocked D3's my D1 and now the bionic which will stick around indefinitely. Honestly, I don't feel any current phone is worth it yet...

Thank you to all ROM developers for keeping things fresh and new...

For me it was because my friend gave it to me because he had no use for it because he was on AT&T. I wasnt to sure about it because i had heard about it being a crap phone that didn't live up to its hype. I got it and the pentile matrix instantly made my head explode going wtf is the little X's in the screen when it moves lol. I came from a thunderbolt i was busy hacking data on ics at the time. And it was just getting boring. But i fired up the bionic and started playing with it and wow it was fast. The dual core and the RAM made her fly and i haven't been disappointed at all. I actually enjoy deving for it. Then finally i got use to the screen and honestly its not that bad actually, just wasn't use to it. I severely need a extended battery tho lol i use my phone unlike you airplane mode people :D But that being said granted we can win them all. But worth a shot ;)

The Bionic is my first smartphone and the first time I spent more than $50 on a phone. Was going through a divorce and had moved to a new place and decided that my Envy 3 just wasn't cutting it.. I had already done what little could be done with it. So, after researching what was out I was determined to get a Droid 3 because it had a physical keyboard. After spending an hour bypassing the Bionic and trying to decide, I picked up a Bionic.. messed around with it..looked at the price.. looked at the D3..and bought the Bionic. I got it less than a month after launch..and soft bricked it less than 48 hours later. Although I learned a good lesson with that mistake, 2 days later I flashed my first ROM..and didn't think anything of it...until my data drops got outrageous and I started to search the place we bacon mooters do not speak of..and learned of ICS. Softbricked again and was given some help by Deduct via eye_dea. After that I started tinkering with stuff and now I'm doing stuff I never thought I would be doing and have met some very awesome people who are extremely helpful and giving of their time to show me how to do things that I would just stare in awe at.
If I hadn't purchased the Bionic, I probably wouldn't be having so much fun learning how to do things and be pushing myself to learn more!

I chose the Bionic because my OG Droid had died and i needed a new top of the line android phone on VZW... this happened to be that phone. I love the removable battery and the 4G LTE (when it works). Honestly, Sam and the DF (now DR) community has made me keep this phone... simply amazing community and an amazing phone.

Edit: forgot to say awesome and thanks Droidrzr community for everything!!

1. I got it for $49.99(+$30 upgrade fee lol), and seemed to have the same basic hardware as the more expensive razr.

2. It seems that everyone who has some interest in phones has seen a razr, but people look at my bionic and say "what kind of phone is that?" I love that! It's almost like the semi-rare, double helifoil charizard card :)

3. The devs are amazing! They are so down to earth and easy to talk to...none of them have made me feel stupid yet. The community as a whole is the type that you would want to sit around and have a beer with. Just a whole other world here.

4. Last, but not least...I like the fact that it is a bit bigger...more tank-like. I don't like dainty.

I am mrlolli and I approve this message :)

After rooting and flashing Peter Alfonso Roms on my OG for two years (which I still have with his GPA19 Rom installed), I switched to the Bionic. It was an awesome upgrade with the extended battery. I have had this rooted since day one and was using ICS months ahead of the OTA, thanks to SamuriHD, his HOB and the rest of the community that now resides on the Droidrzr Forum. I lurk a lot more than I contribute but the people are both inormative and intertaining. I also love Bacon.
My wife went from a D2 to the Droidrzr M (also a very good phone). We are committed to Motorola.
Special thanks to the Droidrzr Forum for taking in the refugees from DF.

Well I was running an OG droid and it was starting to show its age so I was in the market for a new one. My friend picked up a bionic on launch day and loved it so I looked at it some more and didn't see anything else that was close, removable battery a huge plus, Lte, dual core, hdmi.
So I got it when the price came down a little, I was used to the OG unlocked and ease of roming so the locked bootloader was a let down, but then I found SamuriHL's HoB (great work btw) and later the amazing safestrap (thanks Hash code!)
I still have my droid, was using it for a media player for awhile and eventually when something amazing comes along ill still hang on to my bionic for a netflix player on my TV or something.
Bionic with IcarusHd stripped is amazing!

If I hadn't gotten the bionic I most likely would have missed out on the great community that is droidrzr.com!
Big thanks for taking in all us bionic moot junkies :D

I had a blackberry as a first smartphone :(. One day my buddy started going on about some nonsense called "rooting" on his X. Once he rooted it and actually showed me what he could do, I was determined to get an android. At the time I was about a month away from my upgrade so I started looking at rumored phones. The "bionic" was the one that stood out. 4g, dual core, and removable battery absolutely sold me this phone. I remember flying through work once launch day finally arrived so I could get to Verizon before they closed. Once I had it I started reading and reading and reading until I was confident enough to finally root my phone. Once I managed to flash my first ROM I was addicted.

I have 3 main reasons I've stayed with this phone. 1st I don't think there is another phone out worth paying full price for and I'm not giving up my data. 2nd I have been fortunate in that (on stock) I have never really had data problems and my phone has been extremely reliable (aside from my first failed attempt to FXZ) 3rd I feel the bionic community has some of the greatest revs out there. I have seen other communities that were quite rude and sometimes mean to noobs. Around here, as long as you put in some sort to help yourself, someone will help you with anything. 4th (bonus reason) I am addicted to the moot thread. For MANY reasons.

I feel like I just wrote a dang book from my phone... Lol

Thank you droidrzr for adopting us bionic orphans and for the chance at some solid prizes!
