I know this is probably going to be silly and all... but what would happen if i try to fastboot a custom recovery into a locked bootloader? would it just not fastboot.. or would it do it but brick? i know you can fastboot a logo.bin and i think even a system.img so.. or here is other... what if i replace the recovery.img in fastboot file and fastboot with RSD lite? of course properly renamed to match the real one.
What would happen if?

It wouldn't flash.
You'd get Flash Failure until you flash a file that passes verification.

correct, only certain partitions (such as the logo) do not need to pass a signature check. So like matt said "flash failure". But you're welcome to try

I did try as matter of fact.. and failed.. just flashed the recovery from official fastboot and i didnt lose anything... now i know the HTC DNA has a work around to defeat verizon lock and than the official boot unlocker reads it as if it was from other carrier and infact unlock the device or something like that..correct, only certain partitions (such as the logo) do not need to pass a signature check.
