'K, so I've trolled the postings here and XDA Developers (and more), and remain a bit confused on rooting a Maxx HD with the fatal *.15 Kitkat update.  Does the H2O2 (Peroxide) exploit actually work?  Wanted to root and debloat my everyday stock phone.  Have two rooted/unlocked spares but prefer not to brick this one.  Consensus on procedure/success?

Thanks!

Some have success with it and others don't.  After having some problem with one of my devices I just refuse to buy a factory unlockable phone.

Yeah, I'm with you on only buying unlockable phones.  But what can you get that works on Verizon that's unlockable?   Moto locks pretty much everything they make, correct?  And Verizon versions of others like the Sony Z3V as well?  Also I don't want to buy a phone that lacks an SD card slot, so that pretty much kicks Moto out of the game.

Another question...If I've unlocked both the bootloader on the XT926M and the carrier lock with CDMA Workshop, does updating to 183.46.15 break the carrier unlock or does it stick?

I am not sure about the carrier sim unlock, but the bootloader unlock can not be relocked so your safe there.  There are only three phones newer than the 926 that are unlockable.  The droid maxx DE, the 2013 moto x DE xt-1060 and the nexus 6.  The nexus 6 is the only one verizon stil sells the others you can find on swappa or ebay.  The last I looked there were quite a few new 2013 moto x xt-1060 DE on ebay and quite reasonable.  All both of the 2013 DE phones will be getting jumped to loli 5.1 per motorola.  The nexus 6 came out of the box running 5.1.

Don't quote me, but I think the HTC M9 is unlockable. I believe I read Sunshine should unlock it. It does have a SD slot. I switched over to the M8 a while ago and I haven't looked back.

Is there a difference in rootability of 182.46.15 vs. 183.46.15 on the XT926M?

Well, the Hydrogen Peroxide root failed on the locked XT926M with 182.46.15. As near as I can tell the install of the earler kernel failed, the July kernel was present through the various reboots running install_root.bat.  Got the No Command dead android and Device Not Supported in Towelroot.  Any workaround, hacks or alternatives?  Maybe I first have to flash 183.46.15?

Yes, I do believe you need to flash the 183 FW.

Thanks. If I flash 183 will I lose user data on the phone?
