Ah i see, i didn't realize commands could be used outside of adb shell. Everything seems to be working correctly now, Thank you so much, you're a lifesaver lol.

No problem and it was my pleasure to help. I wouldnt know what I know without great people that have helped me. If you ever need anything feel free to pm. If you use gtalk pm me your email if you would like. Thank you for being patient and troubleshooting with me and john.

I'm thinking when doing adb shell with out rooted device might have something to do with it. Sometimes you can do

Adb shell
Su
"Command"

But without a rooted device I don't know how far running adb as su will get you.

I can't seem get su at all

"
adb shell
shell@cdma_spyder:/ $ su
su
/system/bin/sh: su: not found
127:shell@cdma_spyder: / $
"

I figured without rooted device probably won't work. If you are bored try that with your nexus 7 ;)

glad you all got it worked out... :) !...... if you want to work with and / or learn more about ADB commands ..... use the AVD manager (included in the android sdk package) and set up an emulator.... start throwing commands at it and see what happens....:)... if you do something to mess it up..... just hit the "reset" button and start over.....thats the best way to play around with ADB and not worry about messing your up actual device.....

I think you'll find that it's because the device isn't rooted. JB changed the security, thus the issue with rooting it.

I tested on a non rooted Razr and got permission denied trying to cd to the SDCard. You say you lost root because of a brick issue.

I think when you downgraded to restore your system you've wiped clean any root backup you may have had. Without at least a backup of root, you won't be able to remount.

if your adb sdk package is fully updated.... you can set up an emulator using virtually any version of android and almost any device configuration..... that is the main way i learned adb..... just a note tho: you will find that an emulator will run considerably slower than a actual device.... but it is really great for learning and or testing... :)
