When you do adb devices does a serial number pop up?

Yes, i get a serial number.
Just a quick thought. I think adb remount command requires the device to be rooted. Maybe John can confirm or deny that.

Even if it's just /sdcard, and not /system?

I'm thinking the remount cmd is only for the system partition.

Ah okay, that explains why i'm denied permissions when i use that command. Would you happen to know the correct command to mount /sdcard as r/w? All of the commands i turned up with a google search give me errors, and i just want to ensure i'm at least using the correct one.

At any point did you have both devices plugged into the computer at the same time while trying adb?

Yes, both are recognized as "device" outside of ADB shell. Serial numbers are shown for both.

adb -d shell is the cmd I'm thinking of. Should direct it to the device plugged in and start adb shell.

It gave me "127: shell@cdma_spyder". Is this what it is supposed to do?

That 127 is a command not found code. I'm rusty and apologize. Gonna try a simple one...
Adb shell
Reboot
If your phone reboots its recognizing adb, if not we got more digging to do lol.
