Hi, just signed up today as I found the forum looking for solutions to a problem...

I have a Motorola RazrHD XT925, which I've had for a few years. A few months ago it had a new screen and digitizer after I dropped it. All has been fine since. Over the last few days it has taken to rebooting randomly, usually when I'm using it!

I tried uninstalling any recent apps (an quite a few older ones), but still the same. Today I tried rebooting through recovery mode, but inadvertantly selected the fastboot (whilst not connected to PC). I reset it out of that with vol down and power buttons and tried again. Now it won't boot up at all but sticks at the Motorola boot symbol with its pulsing logo.

I wonder if the rom is corrupted - I can see how to load an update from SD card but can't find a suitable package to load. The phine is not rooted and I haven't loaded any other ROMs.

Any ideas??

New phone???

The first thing I would try is to wipe the delvak cache and cache from recovery. See if that clears things up.  If that doesn't seem to help we can look at reflashing the rom. we will need to make sure of the android version you are currently running because not being unlocked you can only flash the same or newer version.

I already cleared the cache from recovery, and did a factory reset with no luck.

I don't seem to have any way to check which android version it was running but it was never upgraded as far as I am aware so it could be 4.0.4, but think it was higher than that - maybe 4.1.1

It is an EU rather than US phone if that makes a difference.

Yes it will make a difference.  First we need to find the proper firmware.  The following is a list of places that mention the EU version.

Hopefully one of the sites will have what you need.

Since you have done a FDR we won't have to worry about saving any data, we can use a full flash.

The reason its important is you CANNOT downgrade versions. It WILL brick the device and may perma brick it. So be cautious in your firmware selection

Thanks for the help so far guys!

I'm looking at the 4.1.2 firmware here

Please Login or Register to see this Hidden Content

Version 9.8.2Q-8-XT925_VQU-22 or 9.8.2Q-8-XT925_VQU-26

It states I need RSD lite 6.0, but this doesn't seem to recognise my phone.

The recovery on my phone has ADB sideloader - should that work with this?

As you can probably tell this is all new to me and I'm learning as I go along!

I have loaded all the motorola drivers on my PC, and installed minimal ADB and fastboot. When I put my phone from recovery into the load with ADB mode and run the ADB software it does appear to see my phone when I use the "ADB devices" command.

So I guess I am ready to give this a go - thought I would ask 1st though in case I do something irretrievable!!

No you can't sideload a fxz file if rsd lite isn't seeing your phone but adb does we need to fix this so rsd will work.

RSDlite requires the motorola device drivers. You can get them from here:

Thanks for that. I'd already loaded the Motorola device drivers, but your link gave a later version so I've removed and replaced with those.

What mode should the phone be in to be recognized by RSD lite? After reset I get options for: normal powerup, recovery, AP fastboot, Factory, BP tools.

If I select recovery I have: reboot system now, apply update from internal storage, apply update from ADB, wipe date/factory reset, wipe cache partition.

The ADB option was why I was looking at that.

Your phone needs to be in fastboot mode to work with RSDlite.

Yay - RSD lite now shows fastboot VANQUISH_US on port 1!

I'm presuming under "Filename" I just navigate to the firmware package I downloaded, and hit "start"?

Assuming that should the firmware be the zipped or unzipped version?

you should unzip it into a folder like XT-925StockFXZ with no spaces in the folder name. Then point to the folder and then to the xml file in the folder.

Initially got an error message trying to unzip "path too long", so moved to a folder on C: drive, then unzipped OK into a folder named "xt925firmware".

RSDlite now seems to recognize everything but when attempting to flash I get the message; "Failed flashing process. Unknown fastboot command. (getvar)"

Looking in the .xml file, this is its contents...

Looking around at advice on the web, I see advice to remove this line  <step operation="getvar" var="max-download-size" />

Have you checked the md5 hash to verify a proper file download?

Thanks, but doesn't show the value it should be on the download site (xda) to verify against.
