2013 Nexus 7 LTE (Deb)

After applying the update to 5.1.1. I have noticed quite an improvement in battery life and performance.  The boot up time hasn't been helped, but the speed of apps loading and it has become more responsive.

The new Team Win TWRP recovery that has been released for it 2.8.6.1 seems to have some GUI problems, progress bar has stopped working and a couple other cosmetic problems. General functions are solid though.

I'm running Slim on mine and it runs pretty well. I'll update when they update their builds to match the newest version.

Flashed Marshmallow about a week ago to the Nexus 7.  No problems with the clean flash.  Battery life has increased by about 35%. With lite usage it looks like it would get about 6 to 7 days between charges. Attached File  Screenshot_20151010-231652.png   119.51KB   9 downloads

I was waiting to do mine until I had feedback, so thanks Spainter. I wasn't sure how well the older hardware would take it.

I may try Chainfire's root method on it today. Last I looked he was up to beta 2.5.2 on Su and it looked like he had changed a couple of the kernels to elimante the bootloop issue.  I do miss root acess on it.  That is why I have held off flashing the 6's for now. Both of the 6's are running the 48W build of Loli still.

I rooted the N6. No issues what so ever. Good thing I did, needed to mod my build prop on the fly at the hotel to get miracast working.

Thats good to know, I use it at the market all the time.  Its new enough here, that people look at you funny when you use it.  I like to watch the expressions on their faces. :)

TIB still seems to have a few problems with backing up settings.  All the settings backups fail verification on the 7.2.3 update  The bluetooth settings backup always fails verification on the 7.2.4 update. It looks like the accounts and wifi settings backups have been fixed. It is sure taking longer to do the backups too when Google updates any of their core apps.  I know they are getting larger but pausing them to back them up is taking a couple minutes each.  Growing pains with the new OS. All the apps and app data seems to pass verification with no problem.

4 days after the release of the May update on 02 May 2016 MOB30J. Google has released another update for the Nexus 7 LTE MMB30H (06 May 2016). The boot loaders are the same and the radios seem to be the same. Small change in the system image size is all I could see. As with the two releases for May on the Nexus 6 I am going to stay with the MOB release unless there is someone that can point out a advantage with the MMB release.

I'm unclear as to whether I can sideload my Nexus 7 2013 LTE (now running LMY48X, unlocked, rooted, TWRP) directly with MOB30J with ADB, or do I have to use MMB29K that's flagged as the update for LMY48X? And, should I update TWRP first to 3.0.1?

Can the MM update be flashed directly withTWRP?

Thanks!

To flash the factory image you use fastboot or take the time to setup House of Nexus by Samuri. I would recommend HON, it lets you decide to wipe your user data or keep it.  Unless you are use to fastboot and editing files the factory flash all batch file wipes your data. Since you have already installed TWRP on your Nexus the ota method will fail.  OTA now checks to see if anything in the boot or system partition has been modified.  Once HON is setup on your machine you will use that more and more.  Definitely my favorite way to flash the monthly updates.  It will spoil you.  HON will also let you flash twrp and root. Just read and read again until you understand just what it is doing.
