I am needing to find a way to keep more than a few days old txt messages and keep over 200 per thread. Is there anyway to do this?

Yes, in the Messages settings, you can increase from 200 to higher.
Also, you can back them up and restore with SMS Backup from the Market.

Sadly the stock ROM maxes out at 1k messages.

Ok thanks! I changed it to 1000. I was just hoping for an app that would bypass that but I think I can make do with this.

Also sms backup and restore, free and pro available. You can backup restore n keep your txt forever.

Agreed, I love sms backup and restore. It's handly because you can move the saved texts onto your computer. That way you still have them, but they are not wasting a bunch of space on your phone!
