Well,

After a long fought battle, a warranty replacement, lots of "Fun"...along w/ panic....

I am currently running Jellybean (4.1.2), and I AM ROOTED.

I was one who started to get the OTA from Verizon, failed, then I ended up putting it on thru "Recovery".

Just a side-note: VooDoo did NOT protect my Root, and I followed everything to the letter, I had SU, and VooDoo was in there, but I had no root for anything......Running Matts "RestoreRoot" zip however, fixed everything....Seriously Kudos on that !!!

SO: My Question/s:

Obviously, if some disastor struck, it would be a piece of cake to put JB right back on thru recover, BUT, the fact that we can't go back to Ginger, root would be lost in this process without a doubt.

I had been thinking about this, among other things, and decided to go ahead and put on the latest "SafeStrap".

I installed SafeStrap, opened, and hit "Install Recovery". This went without a hitch, when it boots, gives the option, no problems.

Well, as I normally do when I have the phone where I like it, I did a "Back-up" via SafeStrap.

Now: I'm wondering, let's suppose the worst happens, things get to be a total mess, and I have to do a total factory wipe, reset, whatever.
WHEN I RESTORE FROM THIS NANDROID BACK-UP, WILL IT BE JUST "AS IS" RIGHT NOT - ROOTED JB ???

My understanding is yes, it's a "Snapshot" complete picture of the system, user, etc. files and set-up. I just want to be sure, as I may be inclined to take a few more "Risks" thank I normally would under the current situation (No method of Rooting JB).

Well........Sorry this was a bit wordy for a simple question, BUT, wanted to make sure to give the proper background info.

THANKS ALL.......S

You "should" be fine with what you have. Obviously we cannot predict every bad thing that "may" happen but you are just as prepared as everyone else is right now.

I agree with Memnoch73. I`ve done many factory resets and restored a back-up of my stock rooted system and several other various Roms without a hitch. It`ll be just as it was when you first created the back-up. If you had root when you made the back-up, You`ll have it when you restore it. Getting root access back is no big deal now though if you lose it, as a new JellyBean root exploit has been blessed upon us by Mr Rosenberg. Be careful though, as of the moment we still don`t have the fastboot files we need for a full on RSD restore if things were to go downhill. Anything`s possible, Good Luck! ;) Here`s the link for the JellyBean Root Exploit if needed.

Save the file, Extract the contents of the zip file. (Extract to your desktop, Makes it easier to locate) Open the extracted folder and click on the "run" Windows Batch file, follow the instructions from there and your golden. This is for Windows Only (Side-Note. Make sure that the Smart Actions app on your phone has not been updated. If it has, uninstall all Smart Actions updates before running this exploit, or it will fail.) Also, Make sure it`s not set to auto update in the PlayStore, as it may try to update again without you knowing and cause the exploit to fail.

Just a bit of info. Remove you're backed up su via voodoo before you backup. If the backup contains the protected su, it will not restore and you will be left with a system that boots to a black screen.
