I am new to this forum and hope some of the pros on here can me. I have a new Droid Razr Maxx and I rooted it using the method on DroidRazrRoot.com - then followed the instructions to turn on the wi-fi hotspot tethering.

Now I received the new update over the air, and it seems to have wiped out my superuser. The good for enterprise app won;t run as it is detecting super user. so my question is how can I get good for enteprise to run / or remove the non-functioning super user without superuser priveleges?

Thanks for all your consideration.

Unfortunately, your situation is an straightforward one to fix but the answer is likely not what you want to hear...

There is no way to run GOOD with root if your IT dept has the server-side function enabled (they must if you're getting denied access to GOOD bc of root).

To figure out how to best help you... a few questions to learn what you've done thus far:

1) what method did you use to root?
2) did you use Voodoo OTA rootkeeper and backup / protect su?
3) have you backed up any apps using TiBu while you were rooted?

Here are my thoughts. IF you used Voodoo rootkeeper in order to maintain root through the update, you could use Titanium Backup (TiBu is a common abbreviation) to backup your apps, RSD back to 6.11.748, re-root, restore your apps via TiBu, then un-root and accept the OTA.

If you didn't protect root via voodoo and/or you don't have a previous app backup, you will need to RSD back to 6.11.748 and re-setup your phone and accept the OTA without rooting or anything.

That sounds like a lot of trouble, but it would put you on the upgrade path and unroot you completely. It's a shame that GOOD offers the option to check for root, and its more of a shame that IT depts don't know better than to allow root. But it is what it is...

Once I know what you've done I'll be able to help you get your email back, *hopefully* without losing your apps and data…

thanks for the prompt response. here is some more information.

1) what method did you use to root? (DroidRazRoot.com set of instructions - i think zergrush)
2) did you use Voodoo OTA rootkeeper and backup / protect su? no - not sure what this is
3) have you backed up any apps using TiBu while you were rooted? no -again not sure what this is.

I haven;t loaded many apps. I really just use the basic phone and need Good 2 work for my work email. I want the hotspot fetaure on but dont want to pay $30 bucks a month for that - hence my rootting, etc. in the first place. Is there any way to bypass the su checks Good is looking for (e.g. keep root and have good work?)

Thanks again for you consideration.
