I know that many of us were hoping for instant gratification when Google bought out Motorola, but Google CFO Patrick Pichette has reminded us that these kind of things don't happen instantly. Pichette said that "We've inherited 18 months of pipeline that we actually have to drain right now, while we're actually building the next wave of innovation and product lines" This basically means that although Google did buy Motorola, they can't start influencing their designs for a while yet. Google has to remove Motorola's infrastructure and implement their own, which will take a while. "These are not easy transitions," Pichette says.

Motorola's recent phone releases, such as the Droid RAZR MAXX HD and RAZR M, are "not really to the standards that what Google would say is wow — innovative, transformative." according to Pichette. Google is admitting that these phones don't necessarily live up to Google's standards. This is understandable considering the fact that the Google-Motorola relationship was still quite young when these phones came along.

So what does this mean for Motorola's upcoming phones, like the X Phone? We can hope that Google will have a big enough influence on this phone to get it up to their standards. Then again, this could be another phone that is released before Google can really get things going with Motorola.

Yay, bring on the next Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 4!

Seriously, if the GNex and N4 is what we should come to expect from Moogle.............Moto was doing JUST fine on their own.

Well if the Moto X is up to Google standards we will see no sd card slot (Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 7, Nexus 4, Nexus 10) and a screen with low color saturation (Nexus 10) that feels like its about to detach from the device (Nexus 7) while flickering constantly at its lowest brightness (Nexus 7), all while it starts to overheat (Nexus 4), right before the battery dies (Galaxy Nexus). But who knows, maybe it will ship with the next Android version. Then some people will look past all of its hardware faults.

^ive literally had none of those problems with my n7 but I do hope moto helps by stepping up the build quality that Google has lacked in. I honestly think they'll pull out all the stops with this new nexus.

The screen separation is always on the left side of the device and is due to a lack of contact area to apply the adhesive between the screen and the frame. This was fixed in later revisions with either a stronger adhesive or larger contact area. The screen flickering is due to an electrical grounding issue with the wifi antenna. Also was fixed in later revisions.

I'm thinking Moogle is our chains. I love the builds of Motorola's phones. They're sturdy and have amazing battery life. All they need is an unlocked bootloader (gonna happen ... somehow), good camera (which they're fixing), a modern processor (least problematic), and software that would blow the competition out of the water. Seeing the software side depends on Google, I don't think there would be problems there. I'm not really worried about the X Phone being a bust, but I do think they let the hope of many fans down. They're going to have to seriously redeem themselves with their next device.
