Verizon may have requested it so we have one less way to access media without using data.

I just found this on another forum for a different phone (Droid 2). Could we do something similar for the JB Bionic?
- The first step is to .
- Now connect phone to the computer and make sure you have ADB installed. You can follow to install ADB if you already don’t have it.
- Now download Droid 2 FM Radio archive and unzip the package on your desktop.
- Once you have saved the files, Start > Run > CMD and type following commands:
- adb push app/FMRadio.apk /system/app
- adb push app/FMRadioService.apk /system/app
- adb push bin/fmradioserver /system/bin
- adb push lib/libFMRadio.so /system/lib
- adb push lib/libfmradio_jni.so /system/lib
- adb push lib/libfmradioplayer.so /system/lib
- Once you have pushed all these files through ADB, remount system to ro.
- Now connect your headphones to the device and launch FMradio.

If it doesn't work get a refund. It does need root.
I have the old lite version and it works on my ICS and a 4.2.2 kexec aokp ROM in safe strap.

@Doddits
I just tried something very similar but with root explorer instead of adb. I have a copy of a nandroid backup from before. I copied the files in question to /system and set the permissions to what they showed in the backup. It didn't seem to make any difference in behavior.

Spirit radio does work. In addition to the paid version, the developer released a free version. Pretty much all functionality is disabled in this except the actual radio. I would suggest to try it.

Free version is mono, but definitely works.

Thanks for the link! Just installed it and the mono version is fine for the stuff I listen to (mainly sports). Not to keep beating a dead horse, but I really think moto should have left the fm capability on the device. I live on the coast, and I remember we lost cell service (and cable TV) for quite a while in the long power outages after Hurricane Isabel a few years ago, so having another radio option for emergencies is a good thing.
