Once I downloaded the file, root process worked flawlessly. Very hapy with it (got my wireless tethering back, etc)
However, I actually use and kind of like the Smart Actions app but now it won't let me in to modify anything to my specs.
Once I hit the app icon it brings you the first time use type of welcome screen , then I went back in to reset my actions after the exploit, go to save the changes, then Smart Action "crashes" and get the black box of death saying the ap has stoped working.

I've googled this problem, but with the basic root I haven't seen a way to solve this problem. Don't really want to wipe/ install custom mods at this point IF there is a work around

Have you tried clearing the data for it in manage apps?

I've done the clearing of Data too...

But IMO its conflicting with my current settings...its giving me options to increase Battery Life or Performance with my phone but Smart Actions is not so Smart...Its more of a pain in the Glass for me..

Removed it everything is working Awesome...For me anyways...

Yes, cleared data plus Clear cache, even force stop and soft reboot. I did notice that it left a time period that I entered but can't enable, so it didn't really clear data I guess.

i was thinking that I usinstalled it previously to JB and re-downloaded/installed when I had problems before. Don't see that option to erase it from my hone to be able to download again...

It's a system app so the uninstall option won't be there. You can uninstall it with Titanium Backup or perhaps just remove it manually. If you do, Make a copy of it first, just in case.

Uninstalled using Titanium Backup- did main program only, still doesn't work, then re-delete all 3 entries for Smart Actions.
Still crashes even after clear data, etc

Hmmm- Astro Manager doesn't see Smart Action under system/apps- will hook up to computer when I get home from work
Titanium Backup sees it-I used it to delete it earlier- doesn't that do what Astro does?

if I 'freeze" the app - will it still work? I need this app to work

I do not use Astro, but if it cant use root then no, you would need a Root Explorer or ES File Explorer or ROM Tool box.

If you delete it or freeze it, then no, it will not work.

You should be able to delete it and reinstall it from the play store.

Astro should see them there. I use Root Explorer and all three of them are in system/app.

SmartActionFW.apk
SmartActionMFW.apk
SmartActions.apk

As for freezing it with Titanium, no, it won't still work if you do that.

I had issues with SmartActions, but Motorola finally made it available through Google Play Store:

When I was having issues, I found a topic or two. There might be a working copy of the APK floating around online. I'll check around.

I could provide a copy of my Titanium BackUp if you would like to give that a try. I have successfully restored SmartActions via Titanium.

Did you try using a file manager and deleting the 3 smartactions apps and then trying to re-install from Play? May need to do a reboot and wipe dalvik prior to reinstalling.
